Funny, I was looking for one of those new before I bought the Sand Hawk. The SB is an old Tamiya Bear Hawk with longer front and rear arms. I recently put it down after and used it for spare parts after more than ten years of fun and abuse. LB, some of the parts for the Sand viper might be direct swap parts. Indeed a good find. Have fun.

Sand Viper, eh?! Thanks for the heads up! I will check for the hop-ups for the DT-02 platform when I got a chance...

But in the mean time, my plan is simple.. just clean it up first!!

Yes sir. It should have been named the the Bear Hawk Evo or something like that because that is what it is. It is lovely Rwd buggy that loves sticky slicks, just like my Hawk from times past. Out of the five or six that were in the dorm at that time, armed with a first Gen Green Machine and some ball bearings, it would pull the front off the ground and put 3-4 lengths on all the other cars before they got going good. Man, I miss that car. But my MM7700 gravel Hound and now the viper are doing very well.

I always liked the look of that Stadium Blitzer in the Tamiya catalog. Let us know how it does off road though - enough ground clearance (more than a buggy)?

Also, that front end sort of reminds me how the Falcon was done - that steering servo was a real pain to get to, I never liked that much about it. Good thread! And nice luck about the body's overspray film!

Should have a bit more ground clearance compare to a buggy!! Not like I run my car at crazy rough terrain anyway.. for that, I will bust out TXT, ha!

Yeah, looks like the steering servo is buried in there.. [:@] Hopefully I won't need to touch that often!!

Haha it's a good thing he left the protective film on! That car is in brutal shape though (dirt wise, looks good from a mechanical aspect ) So are you planning on going BL with this or staying with a brushed system?

Yeah, does not look like it was well taken care of.. but I will go over it when I got time.. take it apart and clean it all.. and replace parts to make improvements as needed..

Long term project.. hee hee.. (well, not that long..) I should have time starting mid-Sept..

Either throw once of my ESC and motor on it or get another BL system.. we will see...

This would make a cheap basher system! (as you can pile on more cells...)

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSDB8&P=7

But I like the sensored design, though.. so I am still leaning more toward a Novak XBR 8.5 system...

They are about the same price...

I don't think paintstrikker would approve the velineon lol! Nice project and good luck with it! Doesn't look like the owner knew what he was doing though we he had it.[:'(][sm=52_52.gif]

BTW incase you didn't know Lunchboxer..........I sold the one and only tamiya I had, the sand viper. Kinda regreting it though, the sand viper was a nice buggy.

This might not be the best thread to talk about this, but Tamiya has some race worthy car too! TRF501X for 4WD off-road buggy, and TRF415MSXX '07 for on-road touring car..

I'd have to agree, tamiyas tc's own! And the trophies prove it.

Have you touched the wild willy yet? I already had cleaned that for yaThis is how I got it

I always used to look at the stadium blitzers and blitzer beetles before I ever had a hobby grade rc. I wish I would have gotten one now seeing them under the lid, oh the possibilities.

First...there is no news on the WW1 so I want it!

Second, if you get a traxxas system I will be bound to get your WW1, or blow up every single Traxxas I see...

LOL, come on Paint, WW-1 is not special to you! It has some sentimental value for me because I had one before.. but it is not the case for you, right?!

The WW-1 shall rise again!! [sm=punching.gif]

I like the Pro-line Dirt Hawg II. I have had good luck with them on dirt, grass and asphalt, with my Blitzer. The Brushless may be tricky, the Blitzer only has two mounting positions for the motor so it only allows two sizes of pinions, and as far as I know you are limited to the stock spur gear. The steering servo is easily accessed, just remove 4 screws and pop off the rods, the front will come right off exposing the servo.

I think for this, maybe I can just put some JB Weld around it.. it should be pretty strong.. instead of buying new parts...

Should brace it, though...
