Restore, Not Destroy! LB's Tamiya Stadium Blitzer Project!
Not a true vintage or historically significant Tamiya or anything, but thought that instead of a 'Pede, I will stick w/ a Tamiya for a basher truck.
A new one from eBay is going for $150+ (not including shipping) So when I got this for $49 shipped, I thought that's a fair deal..
It looks pretty beat, though.. LOL! But I figured that I am familiar enough w/ the Tamiya designs that I can probably restore it okay.. (and probably make it better, ha!)
Won't be pretty, but it will be a runner!

In the vintage market, it never commands the price like its twin brother, the Blitzer Beetle, though!

Why?! No idea.. people just love the Beetle body for some reasons! (Monster Beetle, etc.)

For display, for sure, the hardshell Beetle body set is great! For bashing, though, I guess the lexan shell is more durable.. (not to mention lighter)
Wouldn't mind getting one of these, though!

The definition of "put it away wet".. the shell was full of mud.. this pic was taken after I washed it somewhat in the kitchen sink... [:@]

Sometimes, though, you get lucky... take a look.. rookie mistake turns into LB's advantage..
The protective film was never removed.. LOL!
Sure, I will lose the stickers, but they are so beat up anyway, I think I will just find some other stickers for it anyway!

Notice the left rear tire is trashed...
That's alright, time for some Pro-Line, probably... any suggestion?! I have some Road Hawg around.. but I think I want some off-road type tires.. wait.. but do I run off-road often? Hmm.. Don't know.. argh!
I can always get some more Tamiya stock tires.. but then, I think they will just wear down in no time, though... [:@]
Decision time..
But anyway, the chassis looks like it is mechanically sound..

I think the previous owner tighten things too much.. probably not too experienced w/ kit building.. (it is a lock nut, so don't go crazy, eh?!)
It should be okay, though...

Again, the shock screw is tighten too much and cracking the mount.. Hmm.. I think I might have a problem here.. I will try to put a brace between the 2.. or see if I can get some spares from Tamiya...

Anyway, probably don't have much time to work on this until next mid-September?! LOL!
Should probably get a Novak XBR 8.5 BL system for it.. (throw that MSC out for sure!)
Re-build all the shocks w/ new o-rings..
Get some new tires..
Get some Lunsford turnbuckles so I can dial in some negative camber..
Adjust some toe-out for the front tires..
Get some stickers for the body..
That's the plan!!

Paint, look around the eBay.. they are around..

Yeah, the body looks okay.. the rear body mount holes are pretty trashed, though... maybe I need to glue on a piece of lexan there or something.. we will see!

I almost bought one of these years ago but opted for a Hawk II because it was more adjustable.

Yeah, I will try to make it more adjustable by replacing the fixed length upper A-arms w/ some turnbuckles...
