Actually the link you have is for the newer model called the df300 I believe...Mine was called the blizzard EV which is different than that one. Mines an older version.

Theres not much diffrence between the two from what I understand. I too got a MM7700 installed. Waiting fro some bearings to get it going though. After seeing a few vids of one with a MM44600 , I think im going to make the switch.

Any progress with the Fast Traxx ??

Just saw the pics, that thing is seriously cool. Can imagine it tearing past at 40mph lol. I'd be doing the complete hobby grade conversion, turning up at track events and encourage other RC'ers to laugh at me behind my back (cause we're all nice people together). Then take bets then laugh as you shower them with your dust lol.

LoL thats hilarious...Im pretty sure I can kick some serious ass with my Blizzard with that Mamba I have in it...turn so well...I just dont want to ruin the "original" look of the traxx..its in such good shape that its just going to accumulate in value so I dont think its worth it....maybe with the regular traxx I would as there are plenty of those available.BTW...there is one for sale on ebay right now in Australia in a white color! Never seen it in white before ...one of you guys should pick it up...comes with the box.

I want brushless, and rockets, and big ass guns lol.

Just tryin to track one down at the moment. You will see a project

Hey malice23,
I just pulled out my old red Fast Traxx from a box in our garage yesterday. I'm going to pick up a new battery from radio shack today and see if it still runs.

I'd like to do some mods on mine as well. The battery compartment has one hinge broken and I need to fix that. Also, what are the available options for faster motors to put in this thing? I'm excited to see how fast it can go when modded. I use to love it as a kid. It went through a lot of abuse. It's time to give it some well-deserved upgrades

Aha, another Tyco fan. Malice should be able to tell you about the motors, he has one (the biggest, baddest one).

AFAIK, you should try and keep it as it is, i.e replace both motors (with huge ones) and both esc. This route should be easier than converting to brushless as i'm sure there is one motor for each track.

When i finally find the 'twister' this is the way i'm going to go, although the motors i'm planning on using might need to be mounted externally with some sort of crazy gearing

Mabuchi 380
Dimensions (not including shaft): 43mm long x 27.7mm diameter
Shaft dimensions: 13.8mm long x 2.3mm diameter

Mabuchi 370
Dimensions (not including shaft): 30.8 mm long x 24.4 mm diameter
Shaft dimensions: 10.5 mm long x 2.0 mm diameter

It doesn't look like I can swap the 370 in the original Traxx with the 380. What do you guys think?

ORIGINAL: RC 01 KID

HAHAHA i used to have the bandit with the turbo button... Oh man that brings back memories..I used to love that thing, except i always drove it with the turbo switch on so batts would never last very long. But man when i was at that age it seemed like those things flew....
I had a turbo bandit also man I loved that thing I wore it out. Broke the upper a-arm and battery tray. I also remember the battery stopped working and I had to resolder it so it was wrapped in tape. I traded it for a fast traxx though and wish I had kept it. I still remember the old commercial haha 9.6 VOLT TURBO BANDIT YAHHHHH WHOOOO!! lol
Mine was black with the pink like the top middle 1 here.

Wow, how did I miss this thread?

The Fast Traxx 9.6V and the Tyco Scorcher came with twin Mabuchi 370 motors. If you are checkin this out, you should see my Scorcher (look in my profile), it is my second one and I paid about 70 dollars a few years ago. They are actually tough as hell, you would not believe what I put the first one through. But I did find out they not only float, but they can in fact swim.

Could you actually buy new motors and gears for these cars?

Well I am sure it is a common 370 can for the motor, but I doubt you gould get gears for it. I do not think you would need to, unless you are planning to slap a pair of 1/18 brushless systems in there. You would need at least a heli transmitter to get the proper stick configuration (2 stick throttles). Even then, I am not sure if both heli stick are spring loaded.

I had a fast traxx as a kid I loved it too! And to be honest, that thing was really powerful! I drove it into our pond on accident one time. I got it out and it worked again when it dried out Sadly its death was a cracked "wheel" hob that the track rides on. It sure was fun to play with though, and i still have all the parts around somewhere.

There is no way that I know of to get replacement gears. If money is not an issue, you could possibly get them machined, but I doubt that is worth it.

i got a tyco 9.6v countach when i was like 10, man that thing was fast back in the day!! my neighbor buddy had a bandit, and we used to race all the time. i experimented with that thing all the time, including time trials around my dead end with and without the body, and "custom" bodies (2 liter bottles cut in half long ways). ooooh the good ole days!!
