Forgive my ignorance, but what is the story on the Juggernaut? Was it a unique model, similar to Clodbuster? What?

You can tell the difference between jugg1s and jugg2s by the marking on the parts. The jugg1 has "1999" stamped on them, the jugg 2 has "2000" on them. The txt-1 has "2001" on them. Also, the jugg2 and txt-1 have heat sinks on the gearbox.

I imagine at least pretty close to an hour with the original 380.

Think I can run for an hour on a 6 cell 3600 pack?

That Hopper looks awful familiar for some reason You will easily get an hour run time with that 380 and a 3600.

Another Twins Pic. These are the TA02 chassis from the early 90's. The F150 is my bashers. The Pre-runner is a shelf queen. It's all stock and has never run other than to set the servo.

I used to have these two as well. They were my first real hobby grade RC's. Very nice!@

Wow, looks awesome dixiedriver. That is about the most sought-after Tamiya buggy there is.
I just finished putting the Grasshopper back together with ball bearings and will post pix later. I'm waiting for body stickers, and it is all complete.

I think you could sell that on ebay pretty easily for $300. Unless you really have a thing for the Super Shot, you should do that. Make some money and buy something modern that is easy to get parts for. (it is NOT easy to get Super Shot parts, except the ones that are in common with Hotshot or Boomerang, since those are current models again now. Even those are not so easy.

Well guys, I just finished up the Grasshopper today. It was also the first time I had ever driven one.
I had a Tamiya Falcon in the 1980s; kind of bypassed the Grasshopper then. I thought I should give it a second look. (traded john01374 a mint styrene Brat body for this rolling chassis for this hopper)
I didn't really know what to expect, other than for it to be slower than the Falcon was. Well, it sure IS slower. And the suspension is pure garbage. I wasn't expecting much, but I had just come back from the park with the E-Savage and this was quite the shocker.
On the other hand, it is still fun. With the Mabuchi RS380 motor at top speed on a bumpy surface, it was about all I could do to control it. The only battery pack I could cram in that tiny battery bay (it is an original Grasshopper) was a 6 cell 2000 mAh NiCd pack that I had built from cordless drill batteries. On this pack, it ran about 40 minutes in the 25°F weather. I think I'm just going to leave that pack in there, since I can get at the plugs easier through the window than I can through the battery hatch. (and since the pack is worthless in anything modern) I have another pack like that I'll probably just leave in the Lunch Box.
Here's a couple available light shots until the stickers come in the mail. Interestingly, the ball bearings from the Hong Kong ebayer came quicker than a sticker sheet from Tamiya USA in California. [:@]
Edit: Deleted crappy pictures in low light w/o stickers.

That's the beauty of the Hopper. It's basically out of control even with the 380. Some oil shocks and the hornets spiked tires are an major improvement but then you're taking away a lot of the fun.
Next time I come up I bring one of my hopper runners and we'll bounce them around. We should go to the RLB track and give everyone a good laugh.

dudecat: SURE. If it is discontinued or re-released, it counts, in my opinion. Take some good pix (or even bad ones, like mine) and post them up!
Medevack1: Be warned. The front suspension is only marginally better than that of the Grasshopper. (at least it is a double arm design with inboard springs) The rear is too tight, and parts in the front suspension shake loose right away if you don't thread-lock all metal-to-metal threads. On the other hand, it comes with a bashing body and a shelf queen body, so that is nice. I built mine as a street basher with the high gearing. It is AMAZINGLY fast considering it only has a silvercan 540 motor. Oh, those tires are very good on the street, but pretty worthless off road. I guess what I'm saying is that if you get one, accept that it is mostly for nostalgia, as it doesn't drive that great.

Here are some pic of this awesome truck that i had out today in the snow with the electronics covered so they didn't get wet. Fun with it only 2wd. Only problem is it is lower to the ground then my old pede was so snow packs up under it. The only thing i don't have is the orginal remote as i have moved 6 times in the last 2yrs and lost it in the moves. I have a generic one that works fine.

We guys. With the weather here in wonderful Chicagoland being it's normal crappy self I thought it would be a good time to update the RC photo file. Here are a couple of the cars that I have acquired over the past couple of months.
I always had a soft spot for these. I had one as a kid and said if I ever got the chance to own another one i'd buy it. So here we are. This one needs a little work but it runs ok for now. I'm going to fab up something to strengthen the weak front end and stop the all too common breaking that we've all grown to hate.
Ok so the chance to own one again happened twice. When I saw this I couldn't help myself. This is one of the nicest Falcons I've seen used. I've swapped a few parts here and there to make it perfect. I only need one right front wheel to make this on perfect.
Yes there really is two of them.

I couldn't pass this guy up either. It's not perfect by any means but it'll make a nice runner. I have a repo body and decals on order so that will handle the looks. This still has all the original plastic bushings so full bearings are required asap. Would alos like to find some new plated wheels. If not I guess yellow will have to do.
Can someone that has a little more experience with the Fox tell me what should be connected to these metal tabs sticking off the rear of the arms?

Also, whatever you fabricate to strengthen the front end of the Falcon, do the same for the Fox. They seems to have that same design weakness. That, or just be really careful not to ram them into anything hard.
I got the sticker set from tamiyaUSA by UPS today. Finally finished up the Grasshopper. (as finished as I'm going to do it anyway. It is still missing the driver and the headlights)

Jeremy - The old Hopper's looking good but you didn't paint it???
I currently have the old Fox torn down. She's getting full bearings and all traxxas guts (ESC, servos etc). Should be ready to run in a week or so. I'm going the leave the stock silver can in it for now. As I recall these where some of the fastest tamiyas of their time. I want to relive a bit of that before making it faster....
I did do some research on Tamiya Club and noticed all the cars with the tabs just hangin out there. if I remember correctly they are for some kind of factory sway bar but it's been so long since I've seen on of these hopped up I just don't remember. I checked a couple of other single shock cars I have and they all have that same side to side play we noticed in the front end.....
In looking at the modular design of the Fox I'm not too sure it has the same weakness as the Falcon. With the upper and lower trays mounting together right at the front it seems pretty strong. I'm only planning to mildly bash this and maybe vintage race it if RLB put a class together so it should hold up. I've not heard of too many complaints of the front end being weak on these... But I guess we'll see......

An option to add swaybars. Thats what it looks like, because back in the day swaybars made a big difference in handling.
People still use them today on 4wd buggies. Personally on a 2wd I wouldnt use swaybars, some people like them other
people dont. Back in the day companies were trying to come out with cars to excel or conquer the RC10, Kyosho did
it with the Ultima series cars, tamiya came out with alot of buggies back then.
