Mugen Bulldog
 

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in">Hi there, I'm new to the site.

I used to work in a hobby shop back in the 80's and built many a Tamiya car for myself and customers. Now my sons are getting to the age of R/C cars and I'm looking to start anew.

I have two original Mugen Bulldog kits. One was built and run about 3x then I disassembled some of it to enhance it, but never did. The other was a kit that I bought to use for parts but never really needed too. Trying to get a sense of what these things are worth so I can upgrade to something that will bring my boys into the 21st century. Seems like from what I've been able to find they can range in price drastically. I have counted the pieces and I know all the important stuff is there.

Any Ideas, comments or what there worth would be greatly appreciated.

Its always hard to value vintage cars. The simple fact is that they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them on the day. Even highly valued antique furniture can have a bad day at the auction house. I've seen NIB untouched Bulldogs going for over $1000, theoretically, as soon as you open the box, you halve that. Personally, in your position (I'm guessing they are in MINT condition with all original parts), if I could sell them for $400 each I'd be happy, but it might be a while before you get any takers even at that price. In any case, you should get enough that you won't have to spend much on a couple of brushless short course trucks for your boys. :)

Thanks, Foxy. That's kind of the sense I got. I know that if I do sell them the economy plays a big role in the price as well. So I guess keeping them and using them is just a waste. Thanks again.

Indeed, I wouldn't try to run them. the first time you break a part, you will find it difficult and potentially expensive to replace, and you will have reduced their value to a pittance. Put them on ebay on a very long auctoin with only a buy it now option for the price you are looking for. You may pay ebay fees a couple of times before they go, but I'm confident you will get decent money for them in the end. I would suggest trying to sell them separately rather than as a pair.
