c-11 mercedes benz ball diff help

just got a c-11 mercedes-benz (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=58351) for cheap on flea-bay. this is my first tamiya with a ball diff. i need help with this whole ball diff thing? should the pinion spin free if i hold the wheels, and how tight should i go on the diff??

thats a nice car.. to answer you q's
the pinion should not spin if your holding the tires. both of them but it would if only one is heals. and yes they should be pretty tight. i have the TA-05 chases model which is a dual belt shaft.. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=92217

thanks for the reply, ya its a great looking car. hardest of all the tamiya's that Ive built. that helps, i was afraid of tightening that diff to the point of damaging it. unfortunately its winter now so I'll probably wait till spring to drive it. any body else with one of these?

It should be snug enough to not slip, but loose enough that it works smoothly. A gritty ball diff is a bad thing.
