This is my first post, so I thought I'd share a little project that I'm about to embark on... resurrecting my old RC10 Team Car from the early 90’s.

A little background first… In the late 80’s, like any 10-12 year-old kid, I was into RC cars… I started with a Tamiya Clodbuster, then went to a Kyosho Ultima, and finally ended with an RC10TC. As the 90’s progressed, I moved away from the RC community and my gear just sat and collected dust. Now, at the age of 33, I re-discovered the RC world when I saw a video of the re-released Tamiya Lunchbox, and decided that I had to have one. Then my brother got back into it with a Traxxas Stampede… Next thing I know, we’re rifling through my parents’ closets looking for our old gear! Anyhow, long-story-short, here we are now…

I pulled out the old RC10 Team Car, and considering it’s 20+ years old, it looks like it’s in great condition. I didn’t really bash it too much back in the day, so it’s not too surprising.

Anyhow, it’s currently equipped with an aftermarket wide-A-arm kit from RPM, is fully loaded with Novak and Futuba gear from the same generation, and is lowered (why I did that, I have no idea). But I’m slowly going to get it back up and running, and ready for the dirt.

As with anything, pictures are probably worth more than what I’ve written above… so look for those soon.

RE: RC10 Team Car (~1990)
thanks yah, it's a fun car... electronics are skitterish, so i'm debating just dropping a brushless system in it. like a castle or reedy. not sure though, just got a stampede 4x4 vxl, so that's keeping me busy :)

RE: RC10 Team Car (~1990)
i would love to have that car lol!!! it looks good!
|
RE: RC10 Team Car (~1990)
thanks, yah it's a good car.
question for you guys - if i drop a reedy 3300kv brushless system in it, what pinion should i use? it has stock stealth tranny gearing and will probably run buggy wheels, MAYBE slap some truggy wheels on it for fun. oh and i'm just running nicd batteries for now. |
RE: RC10 Team Car (~1990)
I would be very careful running that buggy. The RPM front ends are getting more difficult to find every day. Great lookin buggy btw!
|
RE: RC10 Team Car (~1990)
thanks! i had no idea that the RPM front ends were getting rare...
