Jeff...is that you? Glad to hear your bringing Airkill back! I just sold my last Bearcat kit, still have a Conquest 1 that needs to be refinished. Sold my last MVVS .26 last year but I'm pretty sure I have enough parts to build one more. Man those RCCA days were great, some of the best times I ever had were flying combat. Those kits are great flying little planes. After the combat dried up we continued to promote 1/12 scale racing at our club. makes me want to get back into it lol.

Are you going to bring back any of the larger kits or just the 1/12 ones?

My laser? No, it's been the best money I've ever spent in the hobby, I'll never sell it. I've also recently bought a CNC 3 axis router so I can do direct to mold stuff as well. But if you need some parts cut in the near term, I may be able to help you out.

Cheers

As far as shipping on the cores. They will not fit in a Priority Mail Medium box so the box size is a bit stange. T can cut down a box but the cost for one is a bit much. Since they are light it would be more cost effective to buy say 4 sets that way the box is still not very big and is still light and the shipping cost per set is much less. I just sent out a short kit and the postage was $17.00. I would say a set of cores would be about $15.50

That looks GOOD! When I get going on the Bearcat, I'll decide then whether I want to do another of these or not. Sure is tempting...

My Bearcat arrived this morning just as I was getting ready to go to the field. It looks pretty good, so far. Looks like I need to make up some wing skins. The vacuformed parts look better than I expected them to. I'm in the middle of two giant scale fighters at the moment but i'm going to try to work the Bearcat in, too.

Jeff, Which airfoil have you chosen for these designs, and what is the thickness percentage? The old "Killer-foil" ?

The fastest of all of the 1/12 scale racers was the Sileto that we made with a Nelson .15 RE engine. It was a handful to get started with the baldder tank and all and it ran through the fuel so fast it was not viable as a racer for 10 laps. We could only get 8 laps at best. With a 4 minute lauch window and 2 pace laps, we would run out of fuel on lap 8 or 9 if i remeber correctly. Of corse we also lapped the feild twice in those laps but if you cant finish what good is all that speed.

I dont have my tech manual around right now but it was a NACA series foil. i know we look at quite a few option in the day but the one we chose had the best numbers for the Renyolds numbers we were working in.

Jeff,
Are the wing cores for the P-51 1/12 scale? You mentioned in one of your posts that you had a P-51 with a 40" wingspan, which cores are the ones you are selling?

The Cores are for the original 1/12 scale designs. The P-51 is 37" I think. If you need to make the wing at 40" span and want to use these cores all you need to do is make a bigger balsa tip block to get the span you want or add a center section plug, or both. Not a big deal either way.

Guys, I just received a couple of plastic parts kits for an upcoming project and they are super nice quality. Thanks Jeff for this very valuable resource for RC Combat!
