Combat Bug has bitten
Well 2 of us got or first time at combat this past weekend. We built SPAD HOR's and used OS15's. They fly ok but don't have a lot of verticle performance. We each flew a test/trim flight and then 2 rounds. The final ended in a pretty good midair with both planes deadsticking down. I got some cuts on the wing and my opponent lost part of his planes tail. It was a blast and we will be ready to go again next weekend. Two other guys have planes in the works. We are going to stick with the spads for now but would like to change to a better flying model later in the year.

congrats RV, combat is a rush isnt it? I love it and try to go to as many combat events as possible. Most of the guys in our club fly spads also, other guys in CA fly foam combat planes. with the 15's, it looks like you will be doing the SSC class. we generaly fly open B. for more info on combat, go to the rccombat.com site. you might find event s in your area also. the rules for the different classes are there also.

for practice, try using long leader strings- like 15 feet or so, it seems to help reduce midairs. also use a high-visibility streamer color. Black is best, or any real dark color. Regular party crepe streamer is fine.
