TT01 or TA05 for drifting.
Titles says it all. I think I have narrowed it down between the two. Which would be a better choice for a drifting platform?

they are both good drifters but the ta05 is of a higher quality as regards a drift chassis. the tt01 can be brought to a very good standard with upgrades while the ta05 might need less upgrades. if money is not an problem then try to look for the ta05 VDF. any which way you cannot go wrong with a tamiya.

TA05 is carbon fiber lighter body .. great for drifting but i have to agree on the budget issue ... about the TA05-VDF .. i think this is the best platform ever built.

TA05 even earlier versions...easily upgraded to any specs. If you get serious with it you can upgrade it to better than VDF specs.
check out these sites for hop up parts for it
www.broadtech.hk - click on broadtech online parts and TA05 ver 2... tons of parts even complete carbon chassis. I just built one I'll post pics soon.

Here is a TA05 Eagle Racing Conversion Kit I just finished. I bought the conversion kit and put on some alloy suspension parts I already had. Haven't taken her out yet, still need to tweek her on the bench before she hits the pavement.
Conversion Kit is around $100 and you will need around another $75-$100 for suspension parts and bulkheads, but now you have a tuneable, quality chassis that you won't outgrow quickly.

Very nice but the TA05 is very tunable out of the box. Most of the blue bits are just for bling and to show a personal touch

That is true out of the box its tunable but only to a degree and it also is plastic, which cannot compare to carbon fibre decks and aluminum construction which are machined to tighter tolerances,...so in reality its not bling it's quality construction.
Out of the box it also has limited camber and steer angle, which will need an upgrade if you plan moving to the next level of drifting, countersteer. The Eagle conversion has a max angle steer crank and hubs that generate 55 degrees of smooth chatter free steer angle.
You can pay 150.00 for a plastic chassis or 175.00 for carbon fibre/aluminum, CVD joints, one way, solid spool, etc....the obvious would be the better quality materials and option parts that will make it a better slider than the out of the box version.
However it requires a little work and info from someone who has built one so your build goes smoother.
