yup, while the method is debatable, the end result is very realistic (entering and exiting turns at high speeds). i'm gonna hook up my rs43ss w/ some drift tires to get some sideways action!

Nice, have you decided which tires you're going for? I want to try out some different radials/threaded tires and the stage d slicks, hopefully come up with a good combination per track/weather condition.

Look what I found on Tower Hobbies: [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJVY1&P=7]Stage-D Conversion[/link] LOL, if that price is anything close to the actual thing I don't see anyone buying it! I only paid $259.00 for my rs4 3 evo rtr new from hobbypeople. Here's to hoping the price was a VERY high estimate...

My thoughts exactly, can you believe that?!? It's just a chassis plate, carbon radio plate, rims/tires, and a few bits to relocate the servo and fuel tank. [&o]

RE: HPI STAGE D: FOR ALL OF THE RS4 3/NITRO CROWD! (VIDEO TOO)
damn... i kinda expected something around that tho, cause if u take the price they have on hpi japan (in yen) and convert it to usd, it comes out to be like $160. a little ridiculous. if they ever sell the chasis plate by it self (hopefully <$70) id prob get that. a midengine conversion is prob the only thing worth getting from that kit (altho that would prob mean getting new driveshafts and an exhaust header too). as for ur question cssdev, my friend has some yokomo drift tires, so i'll prob just try them out and see how they work.

Yeah, getting that chassis plate means you have to get the rest of the conversion minus the wheels/tires/foams. Using the conversion from HPI JAPAN makes it 150-160, now that's their retail right? And you usually pay far less than that at towerhobbies or another hobby shop. Is that to suggest the conversion is far cheaper over in japan? Damn i wish i lived in tokyo!!!

Just to be sure, the HPI website says that RS4 3 cars can be converted to the Stage D kit right? That includes the new .18ss kit too, right? I just want to be sure, I am about to order the .18ss and sometime down the road, the conversion kit, if the price goes down. If it wouldn't convert over after buying the kit, that would suck, but we'll see.
Anybody have the new .18ss kit? Where is the cheapest place to get it. Thanks!

Does anyone think that the placement of the motor would help, probably the main reason the cost was driven up? I don't know if it is 50/50 or 60/40 with the new placement, but logically it should seem to help. Just my .02.
Anyway, do you think the Stage D should fit the new .18 that comes with the newer SS kit?
Anyone know what the major differences are between the .18ss kit vs. the .12ss kit, other than motor size?

I have a rs4 3 with stage-d conversion and a new tower hobbies .15. I have had an add for it for a grip now. I Love it! That thing will give you half a chub when you get perfect drifts. Big WOW factor. I don't have anywhere to drive it though. The streets are too ruff. Unless you have perfect surface, and you may want to sweep it, don't get it. If you have a nice place to drive it though, you will love it!!

As for price, new chasse with new driveshafts and carbon fiber with the $100 D-Box. If you can justify the D-Box being $100 it is well worth it. lets say $40 for chasse and $25 for shafts. Then add $50 for D-box.

RE: HPI STAGE D: FOR ALL OF THE RS4 3/NITRO CROWD! (VIDEO TOO)
I sorta skipped around a bit in this thread, but I too drift both nitro and electric. Two very different things. You know...I bought the HPI RS4 Nitro Drift RTR; changed out the radio and it is a great little car. Below is a video...keep in mind, I'm sort of new to the RC drift thing, but when the orange and black skyline body is on, I am running HPI type T's and when the blue silvia body is on, I'm driving on sushi's. Needless to say, the HPI's are much nicer to drift nitro on. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy...

I think picking up a nitro drifter for next summer would be a great idea...CO-D would appreciate that!
