Get at least a 19t. Those motors you have listed will kill your runtime, and not have enough torque. ABS id not expensive AT ALL. How does 15 bucks for 2 sets cost.

For a good motor, go with Yokomo, get a drift motor, they work great

i have an idea... can you 'true' your abs pipe tyres after youve stuck them on, by holding one wheel still, giving power to the car, then push the spinning wheel onto a file to grind it down into shape....

Yeh m8 stock 27 silver can motor and a tamiya ESC usually(can run down to 21t safely)
about 15mph as stocker, add some metal bearings to your ride, add a 21t motor and the ali prop shaft and you should be hitting 25+mph [8D]

You don't have to get a ''drift motor'' to drift good. I run a Tamiya Superstock TZ, it not a ''drift motor'', but it does the job.

I am going with a DuraTrax Sprint ESC ($30) and Orion Method R 19T ($22 if Tower gets them in) + Robinson Racing Metric Pinion Gear 22T to go with Stock Spur.

I am hoping this is the best setup for balanced drifting/power/run-time/$

(I am also hoping this setup would finally out-run my Hornet with the TEU-101BK + Method R 21T while drifting on ABS )

My TT-01 is running great with no huge electronic hop-ups. I mean to drift you dont need anything special... I threw on some ABS tires with my Stock Silver can motor and I was drifting like a pro haha... well maybe not a pro but its anough to let me drift around any thing I really want.

Just upgraded to the Tamiya Sports Tuned engine thats probobly the most I'll need.

Sell the stock esc and motor that comes with the kit on ebay then go out and buy a Dynamite Tazer ESC for $30 and a 19turn motor (checkpoint money or komodo drifts really nice). if you're on a budget, get the orion Method R 19 turn motor.
ABS tires are fairly inexpensive compared to the "drift tires" that are made by rc companies.

I tried my Mabuchi motor that came with my TA05, it really is not as good as an aftermarket motor. Even with ABS tires.
