Default Noob needs help choosing a drifter

I'm new to this forum, and the world of "high performance" rc racing, but wanted to get in on drifting (some regular racing too)
I'm aware that most of my questions have already been asked, and am too lazy to search for them.
My questions:
Which is better for beginner drifting: Nitro or Electric (is there that much of a difference?)
also, if nitro is a good option, would this be a good starter (good (not great) upgrade potential, "drift-able", and so on)
http://www.hobbytron.com/Lamborghini...ckageDeal.html
what would be some general upgrades for almost any drift car (can you gear them lower?)
once again, it is very obvious that I'm a noob but any help or advice is apreciated.

for starters, electric wins hands down. you get started with a rtr for about 160, or buy in kit and add your own radio equips. go to www.towerhobbies.com and search for tamiya tt01 and find a kit or rtr

Spartan is Correct Electric for Drift but Your looking at the Wrong Sortof RC to Achieve your goal..

Your looking at Racing and Drifting, then my Choice would have to be Either of the Following

1. HPI Sprint 2
2. TC4
3. TA-05

Using that Same Website this is a far better package
http://www.hobbytron.com/TourezaSprint2HPIRCCar.html

The Sprint2 is the one I drift and race..
I Bought the same Package you see there..
Yes you can gear them lower, not needed but you can.. you can also gear them Higher but stock offers some Impressive performance for Race and Drift..

isnt there a tt-01 series of racing or something this would be perfect for somebody new seems to me ( I am a newb but am learning quick) that to properly outfit a car for racing and be competetive u start getting into high $ amounts for something 6 months from now u may not enjoy as much but with the tt-01 class money isnt as much an issue driver skill is

i got the tt-01 and love it great beginner car very popular if u are like me who have a few friends who are interested get what ure friends have then u will ahve all the support u need and also some spare parts might be around when u need them

Bang for buck for Drift yes, but for Race Even the TT-01 R is left for Dead by the Sprint 2..

TT-01 is a Brilliant Drift Chassis but its a Tad Heavy for Race...

The TC4,TA-05 and Sprint 2 cater to those who want to race and Drift with the one car..

No Need to get the Sprint 2 Drift..

The only differences between the Two is the Shell and Drift tyrres..

The Normal RTR comes with X pattern Tyres which are Great for Racing .. they hold up pretty good

If you are kinda low on $ then buy a nikko nissan 350z drift series. Put the drifting tires from Falken (they are included in the package) on it and then go to a local hobbie store.
Here in Belgium I went there and the guys made it like 4 times faster. It comes RTR but is RWD. I know you need a 4wd,but trust me, with a little practice, you can drift aswel as the 4wd. It costs 20€ ( 20-25$)If you ain't outta control, you ain't in control

sensei5 DO NOT RECOMMEND NIKKO TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN!!

Nikko are toys, thats all they ever will be.. they do not make main stream support for their Toys..
You cant just go into a Hobby store and get Nikko parts..

Nikko are a Toy manufacturer and suck at best...
