Default What do you guys think for a noob

So im looking to get into drifting and i wann get an RTR, I read a few post on here and it seems the two best starter cars atr thr TT-01 and the TL-O1.

I found this one on tower for with in my price range [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNUD2&P=7]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNUD2&P=7[/link]

It seems like there should be a good aftermarket for parts and what not and seem all i would need to drift besides some packs are some ABS tires. I would assume any 1/10th body will fit some im not to concearned about the looks of the body.

Id prob want to swap out the RX/TX and use my 2pl, it appears this has sep RX and esc i think

Thanks for all the help guys

Thats a great Kit to get you will how ever need to get the Alloy propshaft and Ball Bearing set to truely get it sliding great..

The XB pro comes with an ESC, Motor and All you need to get started...

Recommended upgrades would be to get better Batteries and Charger...

that car is exactly what we tell people to start out with; I look at it like this, if you can afford it, and know where to get parts, you can start out with any damn car you choose to. That is exellent, you didnt even needour help except to get it slidin

wait, what kind of surfice are you planning to drift on. Preped or you driveway kind of surfaces? If you get the sprint 2 and you arn't useing a preped surface then just make sure that you check the belts after each run. with out a good check you will suposeably get around 10 hours of use on them. check them a lot and you could get up to 30+ hours. (so I hear). I have done a lot of reasearch on here so I know what I want to buy when I get the money I feel I will need. from what I hear the belts run around 15 dollers. someone correct me? and I don't know where to buy them. But that is a good car. either way keep us updated on what happens.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&I=LXDHU7&P=

This is the Rear Belt which Breaks More often then the front..
You have to be Really unlucky to Break a front belt..
When a Belt Breaks the Car will either become a Front Wheel Drive OR a RWD.. it wont stop dead unless Both Break

Shaft is Better for Carparks

Belt for Prepped Surfaces

Just for the Record, my Rear Belt is only now Showing Wear after 40 Hours..
I Use NetBall Courts and Smooth Concrete areas... and if its a Carpark then a Quick Sweep before I drift takes car of that problem

Default RE: What do you guys think for a noob

wow so if im drifting in parking lots and driveways and on the streets i should go for a shaft driven car, dirt and debree really messes up the blet driven cars that bad, hmm maybe ill go with the TT-01 , because i also wanna just be able to drive this car around on reg tires

1: Your Budget
2:Terrain youre driftin on
3:your driving type(Durability,handling,those kinda things)
1) around 200 RTR
2) Pakring lots, streets
3)noob for drifting, preaty good at driving my trucks

so it seem like the TT-01 is turning out to be the best car for me it looks likes, does any buddy know what type of wheels and packs it needs, I dont wanna make my own PVC tires im lazy, and i will order a pack from cheapbatterypacks.com once i know the size and configuration. what do u guys think?

Default RE: What do you guys think for a noob

well i reading some threads and looking on tower also came up with this option using the tt-01r and custom build route, might be lil more then what i wann spend but i will basicly save money in the long run i think. How is the TT-01R

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKSG3&P=7]Tamiya Racing Car TT-01R Chassis Kit 135$[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGNG5&P=M]Novak XRS Reversible Sport ESC 50$[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMRE6&P=]Futaba R152JE 2-Channel AM Receiver 75MHz w/o Crystal 32[/link]<- to work with my 2PL

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXH288&P=ML]Futaba S3003 Servo Standard 11$[/link]

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHLT6&P=7]Protoform Cadillac CTS-V R 190mm Body 20$[/link]<-will this fit?

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMRD4&P=M]HPI Mounted Super Drift Tire A Type x 2 40$[/link] <- are these good

[link=http://http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHUJ9&P=M]Venom 6-Cell 3000mAh NiMH Stick 20$
[/link]

so the total would be around 308 bucks, would this be a sick drift car? plus i would have a dope street car if i swaped the tires am i forgettitng anything, or do you think i should go with the tt-01 RTR kit i listed earlier, i def wann stick with shaft driven, i dont wanna worry about what i drive on

so i was looking up the TT-01R

First thing i clicked was a pic of the body i want on the tt-01r looks bad ass, even looks like the rims/tires i want, so i guess it all works.. wow this last option for around 300 bucks is sounding better and better

[link=http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/attachments/1/4/6/4/3/a1098739-174-tt01r.JPG]check it out[/link]

thre kid says his wheels are offset, how do i do that?
edit is this kit hard to build or does it come built, i would assume no

A lot better, in terms of customization and personalization.And Besides, 1/10 has a wide variety anyway.

Ok you guys got me. I justed orders my TT-01 from my local hobby shop. I got the 190e version becouse i have the same car in real life except its a 89 with 208,000 miles on it but not the euro version just the 2.6 but it is fun in the snow and rain. Any way the lhs isnt big on drifting so i was wondering just how many options of drift tires i have. Also i was wondering if you guys know of any larger scale drifting tires i can put on my revo. That would be sick. Thanks for all your help

Essential Mods for that Car will Be

Alloy Propshaft
Wheel Bearing Kit ( Try E-bay )

The TT-01 Uses 7.2Volt Stick Packs...

Eventually you may want to look at upgrading to a Better ESC and motor but Stock the TT-01 is a Great Car and they Street Tyres they come with are pretty good...

The 190E Comes as a Kit so you will need your Own ESC and Radio Gear ..

I Would Save money on the Drift tyres and Just get a Set of Rims and make Your Own Polypipe Tyres from 2inch Internal Diametre ABS/PVC or Black polypipe..
TT-01 R is a Good Way to go and the 25T GT is a Good Drift motor..

Just Dont expect to Drift on Rubber Tyres..

ok so i will def stick with the pack, as for chargers i have my Piranha AC/DC Digital Peak Charger ,

so ok ill scrap thoes tires and go with these, they are cheaper anyway
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001265928&I=LXLVZ0&P=K]Tamiya Drift Tires Type D & Wheels [/link]

These still say rubber however hard rubber? are these any good, ill try to make some home made ones once i get started

are thoes decent? i will try to make my own drift tires down the line, but im not sure on heating up PBC pipe, i guess u can boil it correct?

so the edited list is

TT-01R
Novak ERS Sport ESC (<- goes down to 15t TT-01R comes with 25T should be fine)
Futaba S3003 Standard Servo
Futaba R152JE Rx
FRC189 RX Crystal
Venom 6 cell 3000 pack
Tamiya Drift Tires Type D & Wheels
Deans plugs
CTSV-R 190MM body

AT HOME:
Piranha AC/DC Digital Peak Charger

So i think i have all i need correct guys, once again thanks for all your help
