Okay guys, i'm very new to the RC world and so far I've found lots of info on this site. I've done some searching and just need some confirmation!
I was looking for a budget RC to just have fun with and drift a little bit. After some reading I decided on getting a TT-01D but it did not come with any of the bodies I liked.
I really want a 350z/300zx body and found a Xanavi TT-01 that I really liked. I read that in order to get a TT-01 drift ready, I need an Alloy Propeller Shaft, Ball bearings, an Aluminum Heatsink, and some drift tires. I figured I'd put my own Drift kit together and want to make sure these are the right parts. Please let me know if they are if so I'll be putting together my first rc!

This may sound really dumb but when purchasing the radio should I just pick any random frequency?

The frequency doesn't really matter. If you are going to be driving it with some friends then you could ask them what they have so you don't get the same.

Those batteries will all work, they are not the greatest though.

some good picks there and yeh go with a big size battery for longer runs,are u sticking with the standard motor?if your using the standard tamiya esc you can go down to a 21 turn motor best to stick around there any lower and the ESC will suffer

i'm a little confused tiger. I'm not sure what you just said. Yeah i'll probably be sticking with the stock motor for now, i'm not sure if I interpreted it right but you said if i stay with stock motor I shouldn't go down less than a 21turn motor? What does the stock one come with

He said if you keep the stock ESC then dont go lower than a 21 turn motor. Stock motor is fine to start out with and with a decent batt pack you will get 40 min runs...

as far as frequency just get whatever and you can order sets of crystals to change your frequencies. there are i thnk 6 different frequencies in the 27mhz band. usually you are good if you have 2 or three sets.

one more thing before I commit and press order! Is there a difference with the TT-01 540 Motor vs. the TT-01D Sport Tuned Motor? Is it just really the same or are there any real differences? Thanks

the standard motor is i believe either a 27 or 35t johnson/mabuchi type motor. basically it will get you going, its not going to have a lot of power and once it goes bad its done. The sport tuned motor i believe is a similar motor with a slightly higher rpm so u will get a lil more power. A better motor choice would be the tamiya type rz 23t motor. that will give u a good amount of power so that you can throw grip tires on your car and have a good time and will also give u the required power to hit long sweepers. for starters the standard motor will be ok but u will want more power pretty quickly.

I don't have the RZ, but I have the TZ and it moves pretty good.

wow great advice guys thanks so much. I think I will go ahead and buy and RZ motor, also I was looking through the differences in the TT-01 and TT-01D and saw that they had different shock/dampers. I would like to know if these would be adequate(equal to or better) than the one in the tt-01d kit

also, if i purchase the RZ motor, are there any other things I have to get with it? I'm not sure what an ESC does but from my previous research it's usually related to the motor. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

ESC Controls the Current from the Battery, to the Motor..
Choosing an ESC, You need to make sure that it has a power handling range to suite your motor..
In General, Staying 2 Turns above the ESC's motor rating is a good rule of thumb for ESC life.

So, If You buy a 15T limit ESC, then you can run motors down to a 17tX2 safely.

If You use a 12x2T Motor on a 20T ESC then you can Expect a Smoke Show in no time at all..
