Hey guys , i've been race n the Slash 4x4 and i just picked up the blitz. I thought I'd put my driving skills to the test with the 2wd. I got rid of the stock esc/motor, just have to run brushless,...lol..... I just droped in the Reedy 3300 combo. and it seems like it's plenty, for the outdoor track i race on.(No long strait aways) I got it new from mlh , in a trade. it was the only setup he had. and he took my Traxxas Bandit in trade...Any thoughts guys?
Just had to share.

i decided against the XXX-SCT. so a new blitz it is. upgraded parts: desert militia body, ESE front and rear suspension arms and shock towers, proline caliber tires, trinidad wheels, novak 17.5 spec brushless combo, spektrum receiver and transmitter, hitec servo, integy rollcage. some parts not pictured. first body ever painted myself. runs top 3 at lhs every week.

I have a quick question that i was wondering if you guys could help me with... Im currently running a 5700kv, 2s 4000mah 30c lipo, 15/88 gearing in my blitz and it gets hot with in only a few minutes of running i cant see why it might me running as hot as it is. Is there any setting that can be changed with the mamba nax system to help keep it cool or should i entirely get a new motor around 3800kv?

You can reduce the timing and that will cool it down.  I would suggest going lower kv, though, that motor is meant for a stadium truck.

yeah, that's a really high KV for a short course truck. i would go either down a few teeth on the pinion or get the Sidewinder SCT 3800KV motor/ESC combo for like 100 bucks shipped off ebay.

Hey terminator!
It says on the castle site the 5700 can be run but its on the edge of the list and really it shouldn't be recommended.

yeah. i mean it can be (seen plenty of Slash's with 5700KV combos) but its not suggested unless your wonly gonna be doing high speed bashing. it probably cogs badly too on that Blitz....

I have one of each and love the ESE kit, its pretty slick.  The white plastic seems weaker than the black, though, especially the arms.

Go for it, you can't go wrong either way, the blitz is a good truck and the price is decent.

What's the deal with the "Maxxis" Blitz?  Is it called that only because of the tires?  I don't believe it has waterproof electronics so, it must be an older version, right?  I came across this deal and I'm tempted to pick one up; looks like fun.  http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...attery-Charger

ITs pretty much promotion for the lisenced tires.  Nice truck and its dirt cheap. Put in a castle SCT setup in it and you have a wild brushless truck for under 300.

Well that didn't go as planned, had 3 auctions on ebay to get money for blitz and only one sold for a whopping $15.50. That means I'm only 230 bucks away. I was only expecting about 130 out of the 3 but didnt get anywhere near it.

Hey all,

I'm waiting for my Novak Havoc 2S Sport Sensored Brushless System 8.5T for my Blitz. I also ordered MIP Universals as well. I was reading through here and noticed that the drive cups are wearing out fast. I am in Kuwait and with the high heat and dust I have had no issues. I did lose a dog bone once from a hard landing but popped it back in and it has been fine.

I have not had any issues with the ESC either. A couple of times it would slow down from being too hot. I let it cool and it was fine. I am pretty pleased with the durability of this truck. Some of the guys bought the Slash 4x4’s and they are always breaking something. One broke with-in the first 5 minutes of the run.

Any way I will post up some pictures next time we run. My parts should be here tomorrow...

Thanks for posting your pics.  I run the SCT setup in my blitz with a mamba max pro but it will soon be swapped with the ESC from the savage XS which is an upgraded sidewinder SV2 from what I hear.  They aren't racing 2wd short course anymore in my area unfortunately everything has changed over to 4wd.

My Blitz definently has more power then what it needs =p lol Have had to tune the gearing down once already because on straightaways at the track and pavement it trys to wheelie all the time from so much power. Our announcer loves it and says i get "extra points" for style when it does it but it hurts my times lol

Putting the velinion in my truck made a difference definently and also made me have to learn how to drive my truck with more speed and not crash it. I've never broken anything serious on it from hitting things though. Only real repairs that had to be made was a couple of screws for the body mount and  new outdrive cups but that was due to my fault of not cleaning and maintaning my truck well. Dog bones kept popping out but found out that was because they had basically shaved the inside of the cups to where they just bounced around. I love my Blitz and do well with it. I get alot of props from people being able to drive a 2wd so well and only being in the hobby for a year and placing top 3 most everytime i race and for being a girl and knowing what im doing lol

Ouch!

On another note, has anyone tried the STRC Steering upgrade? It does not come with bearings anymore to keep the cost down. Does anyone know what size bearings the kit needs or do you use the stock bushings Or do I just order the HPI version for $60 and not have to mess around trying to complete the STRC kit?
