Default Mounting VXL esc without using the screw tabs???

I have a VXL3s system Ijust got....took me about 5 mins to bust one of the mounting tabs off. I bought it to use on a custom chassis that's solid aluminum. Would anyone recommend using double sided tape to attach esc to chassis? If so, what brand is good....just 3m? Thanks in advance...

Yep, double sided tape is the one to use. Don't have to be 3M, as long as it is good

The best double sided tape I've found is the ones that are in the package with hooks you mount on the wall. The kind that has the little tab you can pull. It's a little more expensive than buying a whole roll but it works great. If you're mounting it once and not looking to swap it out, buy some and throw the hooks away LOL.

zip ties work great too. Or you can use double sided tape and zipties.

surprised no one mentioned Velcro, that is the way i mount all my electronics and it is reusable, and it never comes loose. just make sure you get the industrial grade stuff.

I was using that for awhile held it in place very well. Way better than the servo tape that would come with servos, or ESCs.
When I ran out I just got a roll of 3M double sided foam tape seeing it was cheaper and find it works pretty well (just not as easy to clean up when removing)

And as Krazy Chicken said velcro works well too. I would use it but I don't dismount my electronics usually.

velcro should be ok if you have a fairly slow car, and don't crash badly.

I use the double sided tape intended for sticking trims and mouldings to the outside of cars.... I can lift up an entire 2kg car by the esc thats attached by a 1inch square piece of tape...

its a pain in the bum to get things back off though!

i second this! i have tried DS tape, and velco. but when your truck can jump 30+ feet in the air....they just wont cut it. use zip ties, running them over the ESC in such a way so as not to pinch the wires.

I am a fan of velcro myself, just be sure you used a decent sized piece, about the same footprint as the ESC and give it a little twist when you have the piece set together to really get the hooks and loops to grip. I am using Velcro brand and it holds up really well.

I use Velcro myself for my rx and ESC. Unfortunately, during bad crashes the ESC comes off. The RX may shift a bit but it's so light, it's not going anywhere. I would recommend velcro (the wide tape stuff you get from Walmart that looks like the left one in the picture above, or in black) if you are using a smaller ESC, like some of the mini or micro r/c stuff, or smaller car ESCs frmo hobbyking that don't have a lot of mass tacked on them 9big case, fan etc). I use the velcro stuff since I do move my electronics around 3 different trucks.

In the cars that I only run once in a while I use Velcro so I can pull the electronics out and swap between vehicles.
This stuff is great and what I have been using:
