hey guys I just wanted some opinions. if you had an HPI blitz and wanted to upgrade it to a brushless system, which of the two systems would you pick? truck is for bashing only.

The tacon motor and an ezrun 60A esc.

The leopard motor is not a true 540 motor, but a 380 motor finned out to 540 size.
The 35A ezrun esc might be cutting it a bit close for that motor with offroad use so go with the 60 A.

wouldn't recommend the 35A for a blitz. I tried one in a stampede and it got very warm. I think the blitz is a bit heavier.
They do great in lighter 1/10th scale tamiyas and 1/12th scale and down.

so looks like the tacon and ezrun are better than the leopard? i kinda figured the 35A esc won't do, but i couldn't find the 60A esc. can somebody post a link for one of those?

60A ESC 8.5t combo http://www.hobbypartz.com/car.html got one worked great in my 1/12th truggy
60A esc alone http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezrun-60a-...-1-10-car.html

thanks for the links! the 60A esc looks a little too expensive for my current budget. i wanted to keep my combo under $70. the motor is really cheap at $25, but i'd like to keep the esc to $40 max. maybe i'll have to settle with the 35A esc []

problem is it isn't about settling. the 35A is not upto the task for the application you want. You will be at $84 when you have to buy the 60A esc after you fry the 35A...

I ran a 35A in a pede which is light as hell and almost fried it.

Hmm... Do you guys think this will do? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=7188 but since hobbykings shipping is so expensive, it'll probably come out being the same price as the one from hobbypartz lol.

Or you could just pony up the extra 10 bones. $80 shipped for the motor and speed control is pretty damned cheap, bro.

no offense guys but why do you all think that the blitz is too heavy for the ezrun type motors,

im running a 12t and a 35a motor in my blitz with 2s lipos and it will pull wheelies easy, the esc stays cool as all the time ling as does my lipo, the motor gets quite warm if your gunning it all the time but not hot enough to get worried about,

i would also say you need more than the 35amp ez-run. but i have that system in my onroad car and like it alot. for the money, it has alot of nice features. being able to set punch control, ABS, drag brake, initial braking force and reverse power helps alot when you are trying to put alot of power to the road. but as mentioned, 35amps wont be enough for a heavier off-road RC.

Maybe your driving style and gearing is such that you aren't hard on it.

there is a big difference between using a 2s and a 3s lipo. you might run into problems if you tried running a 3s lipo with your setup. but i dont doubt that geared low the 35amp system works well on 2s. and if you are pulling wheelies on 2s, then you probly have it geared nice and low. that helps alot with temps.

so would the leopard system jsut not be worth it? it comes with a 60 amp esc, along with a 380can motor with fins on it to make it into a 540 can. i know the motor will be weak compared to a true 540 motor, but im guessing it would still be an upgrade over the stock hpi firebolt brushed motor.

Stock gearing, im too cheap to buy upgrade pinions

I did do a skatepark bash just yesterday and getting some mean air, i do bash kinda crazy, (kinda like point and gun it,) and like i said the esc stays very cool, you cant feel heat off of it when you touch it, the motor gets hot sometimes if im gunning it all the time with the slipper on tight but still not hot enough to damege the electronics.

Just if i had a camera i would be able to show you some video footage, just wait till xmas, im getting one then
