Default Castle Creations Sidewinder SCT???

Would the new sidewinder SCT motor and ESC combo be a good candidate for my XL-5 Traxxas Stampede?

http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...inder_sct.html

If not what other brushless systems would work well in the stampede.

Thanks, Josh

5700 is WAY too much for a Stampede.

ThunderbirdJunkie wouldn't even consider a 4600 for the 'pede.

When it comes out, the SCT Castle system would be GREAT for the 'pede.

So a Mamba Max Pro and a Tekin 13.5 wouldn't be a better combo?

Do you know when it is suppose to be out?

Is 3800kv still alittle "hot" for the stampede? I sometimes like to crawl over rocks and stuff. Would that heat this motor up to much?

It shows that it comes with a fan for the motor, what are yours thoughts on that?

Thanks

Fans on the motor are stupid.

ThunderbirdJunkie's sensibilities would be to throw it away so it can't make anybody honestly believe that the thing is doing anything, but his greed would put it on ebay and let the piranhas bid each other out of it with bidding starting at a penny and 10 bucks shipping.

I used to not be a "fan" of motor fans either but they really helped me. Motor temps in my Slash 4x4 fell by 40 degrees with a fan.

I really think they should have thrown the old school Mamba Max in with this combo and sold for a few dollars more so people could run 3s. Or beef up the sidewinder a bit to run 3s with it... The price is right but I think a lot of people would pay $20-30 more to run 3s.

The normal Sidewinder can be run on 3S with a 4600. Hopefully this new Sidewinder's advantages are better throttle control at low speed to get rid of the jumpiness and cogging of the old Sidewinder (which magically went away upon upgrading to an MM, go figure)

My Sidewinder was pretty smooth, no complaints. At any rate it should make for a nice race esc/motor combo for something like a 4x4 Slash which wouldn't need more than 2s.

Patrick (President of CC) has said (and I quote) "Yes, the power handling on the Sidewinder SCT is close to the original Mamba Max. It's quite robust." [link=http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showpost.php?p=385354&postcount=22]source[/link]
However, it is still not rated for 3S on the new, more powerful motor.

ThunderbirdJunkie had absolutely no complaints whatsoever about his Sidewinder, it's just that the MM is that much better [&:]

Realistically, mathematically, theoretically, and practically-speaking impossible. Ain't gonna happen.

180 degree without fan, 140 with the fan. My temp gun doesn't lie.

So does anyone know when this will be out?

Could I put the fan on the ESC instead?

Also how is Castle Creations customer service. If the system fails prematurely will they replace it?

ThunderbirdJunkie has no doubt that the fan cooled the can on your motor.

He DOES doubt that it did anything for the internal temperatures.

I'm glad everybody in here has Advanced Physics degrees.

I'd like to see a magazine do a story on fans/heatsinks.

It'd be an integy heat sink or fan and it would be the best thing since sliced bread.

There, that's a magazine article about heat sinks and fans[&:]

5700 is WAY too much for a Stampede.

ThunderbirdJunkie wouldn't even consider a 4600 for the 'pede.

When it comes out, the SCT Castle system would be GREAT for the 'pede.

RC mags need more articles that are less like ads... More empirical data, and its not a preschool soccer game, there can be winners and losers. Ahem, ok back to the topic.
