What is the best vehicle for bashing, with occasional racing?
I really want a stadium truck, but I'm new to RC cars. Been doing planes the last couple of years.
In my youth, I had a Grasshopper...I loved that thing, but my cousin's Tamiya Fox and my buddie's Midnight Pumpkin always spanked me (Yes, I'm talking 80's)
There seems to be only one track in my area, and its a flat oval. I'm trying to convince them to build a track with jumps, but until then I'll have to be content with jumping in my own yard and the local skatepark. So, my question is, would a stadium truck perform well in the grass, or would I be better off with something else?

Slash. I have one, and hear good things about them from others as far as bashing and racing. And they are the most popular at what seems to be most tracks. I have broken the front axle hub/caster block 3 times, all of which resulted from planting the front end into a curb, and into my Summit last time, going a good 40 mph closing speed.
The SC-10 is a bit more of a race truck, if you really want to win win, as I understand. That is of course if your skill matches the truck (and I fail at that so I can't comment any more).
Of course, you asked for a Stadium Truck, so in that regard, something like an Evader EXT is decent and raceable with a couple of mods, or perhaps a Associated T4 if you don't mind flimsy looking suspension components, or even a Losi XXX-T. I would recommend the Rustler, except you mentioned racing, which in all fairness the Rustler is not the best at.

if you want a stadium truck then get one. the t4 is fantastic, the rt5 is awesome and the xxxt's are still good. (heck an old school rc10T is still great, dialed in of course)
but your poll list's short course trucks. i'm confused.

I can't really see anything out there real worthy of selling my son's xxx-t for. It's awesome on and off the track. been used very hard racing and bashing, it is tough by both standards. Brushless would be nice but can be bought seperatly. I'm always taking the radio from him to run it. Awesome platform. Btw my 4x4 slash rarely breaks.

The short course trucks dont do well in grass. Stadium trucks arent great, but with their larger tires they are a decent bit better than the SC trucks.
If you like the SC trucks, Id get the Blitz. If you like stadium trucks, the E-Firestorm, or RC10t4.1 are good options.

How is the Blitz speed wise? Is it something I'm going to want to upgrade in relatively short time?
What is the fastest brushed stock vehicle in this class?

All of them are dog slow. There's not a single brushed RTR that you wouldn't want to upgrade shortly afterwards.

Im extremely surprised at the speed of my father in law's stock xl-5 stampede. Its pretty fast on a 7 cell NiMh if you ask me. He had a blitz and it was alright as far as speed, not as fast as the 12t traxxas though. Although the blitz motor ran cool as could be while you cant touch the titan when you're done running.
