Default Velineon system in an SC10??

Saw some videos on youtube of SC10's claiming to have Velineon Brushless systems in them. Are they compatible, just bolt them in? Or do they require modification? Just wondering.

A motor is a motor, and a speed control is a speed control. Yes, you can use the Traxxas ESC/motor in an SC10, or almost any other 1/10 scale RC.

It'll fit you just need to either drill a small hole on the plastic gear cover or shorten the motor shaft on the VXL.

well, I picked up a velineon brushless system, cheap. I have a stick 2wd slash. I'll either put it in the Slash, or pickup a second truck for the brushless. Only reason I might pickup the second truck is so I could keep the slash stock for the Spec class at my racetrack.

know anywhere I can find rolling chassis that I could complete with my motor and esc? If I need to get a receiver and servo as well so be it, but I'd like the rest of the truck to be complete. I can pick up a body too if need be.

And why is that? I had more problems with a gear cover on than I do without it.

What problems can you possibly have with a gear cover?

It's a simple piece of plastic that doesn't let stuff in and around your gears.

With both of my slashes I constantly got little pebbles in the gears even with the RPM gear cover which didnt have any gaps or holes in it like the stock one did. At least 2 to 3 times per run per truck I would have to stop and take off the cover to find a pebble in one of the teeth. The first time I ran without a gear cover I didnt have a single problem with either truck the entire run, and in the many months I've been running like that its only happened maybe twice total. I actually got that advice and the same outcome from people on here so I'm not the only one.

Must be a Traxxas thing. Never had an issue with AE, Losi, or other 2w electrics.

yes same shaft size.

I do run withought a gear cover on my blitz because i stripped the screw holes to hold it on.

I dont hve problems but one time a massive rock got stuck between the spur gear and the chassis and made a little groove on one side, doesnt affect me at all.

i guess its all about the material your spurs are made off.

Devil, you can run without if but why if you have one? You explained your problem, but don't see it happening unless it's not fitting flush with the motor mount. Doesn't make sense to me. cover means it's less exposed to debris than without one. Maybe you got that concept backwards. i dunno.

probably becuase he's runnign the RPM gear cover

why anyone would buy one of those is baffling to me.... are you breaking the stock one?

Its the way the 2wd traxxas trans are designed, there is more than 1 way for dirt to get into the gear area than just by the cover. And the reason people buy the RPM one is because it is actually completely sealed. If you look at a stock gear cover theres a hole in the bottom. But with either one I always had stuff getting into the gears. I've been running coverless for over a year with maybe 1 or 2 things in the gears over that year rather than 1 or 2 things every run.

i have had this happen on my slash 4x4, losi xxsct and my scx10 wich does not have a cover so its safe to say that no matter what truck or type, cover or none,at some point debris will find a way in and either jam in between the teeth(slash 4x4 & scx10)or break off a tooth(as with my xxxsct) unless your driving is restricted to clean, groomedtracks, as all of my instances happened goofing off in the yard not at the track.
