that would depend on:
what battery
what gearing
what RC are you putting it in

It would be going into a losi desert truck. Lipo 5000mah 2s. Right now the gearing is a 48 pitch 88 tooth spur gear and a 18 tooth pinion gear.

The website says the motor can pull 80 amps, not sure if that would be too much for a 60amp esc. I could be wrong though i'm still learning about brushless.

Spend another 30 bucks and get the Sidewinder SCT system. Worth every dime.

Nowhere has it higher than $110. An LHS near ThunderbirdJunkie has it for $94.99. Amain has it, everybody has it.

The reason why I was asking about the Tacon 4420kv motor and the ezrun 60a esc is because i havestore credit at hobbypartz.com and I wanted to see if that set up was good to run. I'm just a backyard basher trying to have some fun. LOL

It should run this motor without an issue
http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m11-car-2848-4300.html

or

http://www.hobbypartz.com/3650m-sl-4...ess-motor.html

or
http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezrun-seri...ess-motor.html or the combo http://www.hobbypartz.com/car.html

Any of those should give plenty of power for the desert truck

The finned can motors have smaller rotors, and will heat up rapidly in a 1/10 off road application.

Thanks. ThunderbirdJunkie Thanks about the info on the sidewinder SCT system. I'll look into that system next  for my Blitz.

The first 2 motors you gave me links to have a 380 size rotor in a 540 can if I am correct. Thats why i was asking about the Tacon 4420kv motor it is a true 540 motor. If I can run the Ezrun 60A with this motor and if it won't have any issues I'll be getting this combo.

I think the Ezrun 60A esccan handle the Tacon 4420kv motor. The Ezrun combo with the 5.5 motor is a 6000kv motor so I think I should be ok.

it will probably be fine, like i said the only thing that worried me was the 80 amp rating on the motor. Let me know how it works out. If it does good and doesnt get hot i might buy that combo.

False

Gearing is what you need to figure out no matter what combo you go with. There is more to it than kv rating and batteries.

Tried the 13t EZrun finned can motor (normally in a 2wd touring pan car, runs fine in it) in the SC10 and a B4...both applications got quite hot after a 5 minute heat, geared lower than normal motors of similar KV ratings would be optimal (actually, running 18/87 in the SC10, and 20/84 in the B4, which is what a Castle 4600 pulls with no problems, which is a higher kv motor), and experimented with a few different gearing combos. Ran OK, but obviously not as fast as the 4600 or even the Tacon 3200 geared 24/81 (SC10) or 26/75 (B4) and got hotter than either of the other motors.

First race day ever at The Factory my ballastic crapped out while practicingInstalled a 35a ez-run and 3300kv blue fin ezrun motor geared it 25/81 in a Evader BX and neither esc nor motor ever got above 120. Now that combo wont win you many races but it was no Dog either .

I agree with mc4798.

im running the 35a speed control and the 12t finned can motor in my blitz with 18/83 and the esc never gets even warm, the motor gets from warm to a decent temp where i can hold my finger on it for 5 seconds easily and im also running lipos.

Im kinda wondering how tbjs setup got warm in his sc10 unless he was geared waaaay higher than stated.

I run the 60a ezrun and a Novak 5.5r on 2s. I have had that combo for almost two years now with no problems at all. I'm running it in my T3 just bashing around my neighborhood.
