Rustler Crawler?
Hey guys kinda had a crazy idea a while back. It involved using my Rustler roller that I got with my Bandit. Since I already have a Rustler and a Bandit, this chassis has kinda been used up to me. I thought about putting a waterproof XL-5 ESC with a 35t Saturn combo into the roller because I've always kinda wanted a mudder/crawler/trail rig to have fun with, and with this chassis it wouldn't cost me but $120 max to do it and get it up running. I know a 2wd crawler kinda sounds crazy, but I'm not doing any true crawling, just kinda going around on trails and maybe a little mud/water every once in awhile. What do yall think and have yall ever heard of anyone doing this???

lol like 10 different ppl have done it with the 272 based cars.
the old school crawler guys used the magnum tranny and just build a car around that with like axial axles or whatever they could get hold of.

yeah, alot of people have told me about the 2wd being a limitation. i prefer 2wd RC's over 4wd. they're simpler, easier to work on, and if they get stuck (rarely) you just pick 'em up and set it back down. i'm actually thinking about the Wheely King though.

RE: Rustler Crawler?
if you want a crawler then you'll probably want some good 2.2 inch tires, rc4wd and proline have some good ones, i personally like the rok loks and the mud slingers, the proline super swampers arent bad either, and as stated before youll need a high turn motor with locked diffs, but you may also want o widen the stance a bit to get some more suspension travel out of it, this worked wonders when i tried it with my slash 2wd, just taking some slash 4x4 arms, rear axle carriers and rear turnbuckles and putting them on in place of the stock arms, axle carriers, and turnbuckles made a world of difference, and i imagine the same thing could be done to the front to make them symmetrical, just use the rear slash 2wd arms and turnbuckles

na, i decided not to do anything with this roller, just use it as parts. i'm using its all steel tranny now in my Bandit, since i stripped the Bandit's plastic one.
