Default Mini Revo Frustration

Alright so I got a mini Revo for Christmas and it was awesome the first day. Now it's done nothing but frustrate and agrivate me. It's on a stock battery and this is the second time I've stripped the rear ring/pinion gear. I called Traxxas the first time it stripped they said to loosen the slipper. I did that but it kept getting extremely hot even with the 23T pinion. So I tightened it all the way then backed it out a turn. And what do you know, first run strips my ring and pinion. Now I just want to throw this thing in throw this thing in trash and stick with my Stampede VXL. Now, if I get a center diff and new ring/pinion gears, will my rear ring/pinion stop stripping? FYI I've only been running a stock battery. Is there a certain point when I'm tightening the 2 halves of the bulkhead? What should I do?
