why did my esc burn out

Default why did my esc burn out

i put a leopard brushless combo 4500kv in my 1/10 exceed dynomite ,within 5 min it just started smoking and became very weak. i sent itback ,the new one is on its way. i would like to know why this may have happened before i put the new one in ..any advice ?

maybe defective, but that's pretty high KV for off-road. what were you doing?

well im new to this and wanted more speed and power,guessind by your reaction more kvs doesent mean more power. i never got the chance to take it off road. really i dident know if there was something i could have done to cause thu burnt out esc..fore future refrence what is a good kv for off road

at its price I'm guessing 35A
the motor cans that come with them also look like the 35A EZ-runs just re-colored

Possible causes: Improper gearing, improper soldering, faulty battery, factory defect.

He means if your motor is geared to high it will let out all of its magical smoke.

well overgearing usually burns out the motor before the esc undergearing kills the esc tho

I have run Mamba Max 6900 & 5700 setups off road without any issues. Most likely it was a defective ESC but when you buy cheap RC's you get what you pay for.
