Default TACON?

Ok I have been looking at these Tacon brushless motors the specs and side by side on road test VS. velineon it seems pretty beasty BUT the price kinda scares me why so cheap for something that seems to perform great? should I stay away from them or buy 15 ? IDK any on hands info on these would be great! Thanks guys!

They actually are good. Perform like Vxl motors.

Also I plan on getting one for my slash 4x4 and one for my 1/16 summit so how big of a motor can both of them handle without MAJOR changes or upgrades?

540 or 550 should work fine in either, 1%'er

Buy one of the Tacon motors, and buy a pair of 5x11x5 bearings to go with it. Motor itself performs very well.

i run tacons in almsot all of my electric vehicles. way more power than needed. i don't see why you shouldn't get them.
you get what you pay for is almost an obsolete saying.

i use the hobbywing 60A speedo and then the tacon motor that i see fi to my aplication.

I have had nothing but good results with the Tacon motor. Only point I can make is the wire leads out of the motor are pretty stiff, and I think one needs to plan wire routing and bend them once. Otherwise they are a quality bargain.

With the cheaper castles, the price of a castle sidewinder combo is worth the extra $20 over the ezrun 60a and tacon.

plus castle will answer their phone and return emails if you have an issue, good luck trying to get a hold of hobbypartz, their service is horrible

call up or e-mail Hobbywing if you have an issue with HW gear(or tacons manufacturer with them) not hobbypartz...
that's like calling tower if your CC ESC blows out 1-2 months down the line, and expecting tower to fix it for you...

yeah, I'll just call china

hobbypartz mailed me items after I'd canceled the order, 3 days after the order was canceled

they confirmed that the order was canceled, then they shipped the stuff anyways

I spent a week trying to get someone on the phone, nobody would ever pick up (and they're in california, not in some far off land)
the fastest they ever responded to an email was 3 days, and each email they replied to, they kept stalling and trying to prevent me from returning the items

they made me pay the shipping fees to send back an order that was canceled, I loved paying shipping costs to fix their screwup

just a heads up to anyone considering doing business with those shady people at hobbypartz.. if they weren't so shady, they wouldn't have 4 corporate websites all with different appearing storefronts. they hope that they'll screw you over at one, and you'll go shop at one of their other sites

they finally took it down, but they had a poll on their own customer service forum where over 50% of the responses said they'd never shop there again

Well, I know where I'm not shopping from. I'd stick with a reputeable company, anyway, like Castle Creations over buying from one of these cheap chinese companies that seem to pop up every couple of months.

Thats the same with me. Guess some people expect perfection each and every time. No mistakes allowed.

Myself, I can't see a brushless system $100 or less being any good. Sometimes you have to pay more for something decent.
