ElectrixRC?
I'm seeing more and more ads for these things, even on RCU: http://www.electrixrc.com/
Anyone else seen these down at their LHS, or even bought one? I got to see one out of the box at my LHS around Christmas, and I have to say I wasn't impressed. It felt like a hybrid of a Traxxas and a Tyco, basically a hobby grade with really cheap feeling materials. The tires were really hard and had a greasy feel to them, and the plastic seemed brittle.
But it looks like they're from Horizon Hobby, and I've been impressed with their stuff in the past. So I guess my question is are these any good?

RE: ElectrixRC?
I've had problems with cheaper losi's in the past. I sure as heck don't want to buy from an even cheaper horizon brand. I've also had a chance to inspect them in person at the lhs. I agree that it feels cheap, the tire feel like they're made of vinyl.

I'm all for trying something new, but the thing that stopped me was parts availability. My own advice to people is to buy what your LHS supports, and while mine has a massive wall of Traxxas parts and a smaller selection of Losi, they didn't have a single part for these.
Plus I have too many RCs anyway, I sold off one and gave another away but I still have over 10!

I could see how that would be a fun truck to bring along on a trip to the beach or something like that, but as for parts/quality, Idon't think its very practical.

my buddy's kid has one and has had no issues, and he beats the snot out of it.

RE: ElectrixRC?
look like a decent starter rig,
I'm not sure what the extra $60 bucks for a stampede over a ruckus really buys you
it's not aimed at someone already in the hobby

RE: ElectrixRC?
yup, $120 vs $180 for a very similar product
you could put one of those cheap brushless setups in the electrix for the same price as the pede XL-5

RE: ElectrixRC?
If somebody gets one, they should tear it down, and take pics as they build it back up - for a build thread. Would be useful info to share.
I'd still pass on one, but if someone gave honest opinions on it (and folks could see the guts of it), it would shed more light than some pretty marketing pics with the shell on from their site.

RE: ElectrixRC?
I'm not lining up to buy one either, but if someone's looking to get started with a low budget, this is probably a better bet than some of those ebay specials
these guys did a review too

RE: ElectrixRC?
Im new to the rc world and my first truck is the Ruckus Orange Monster truck. i beat the crap out of it for a couple of days and it ran really well. But i decided it wasnt fast
enought for me so i changed to the 15T motor and 4200 battery. After putting in the motor i cant seem to get the gears and motor to coperate and it's barely moving.
Any advice would be greatly apperciated.
