brushless rc8t
Hey guys I have an AE ft rc8t that i currently have an axial .28 w/ nice ofna pipe in I have a reasonable setup going but nitro is frustrating in certain areas, such as noise, cleanliness, minor problems (air leakage, stolen starter box, melting gas tanks etc...) and mainly time/money. (we all know the same in the long run) So I'm currently researching brushless setups, one consideration being the turnigy trackstar ($125cant argue with that)
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14632
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14635
and the hobby wing ezrun (only $100)
http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezbrposycoc1.html
which would significantly lessen entry price into bl/lipo to a $2-300 investment over a $5-700 drop.
Compared to the tekin rx8 $280, and mamba monster max $250 (figured with 2560-2650 kv and 14.8V all should be rather comparible)
obviously the tekin and mmm are better decisions but $130-150 is a jump! I am planning on running a 4s 5000 or 2x2s4000 li poly batt(s) Ive read both are great setups for the money but are pretty much a copy of the early mmm. While I do not see design theft as a great idea since its already done I might as well reap some benefits if I can.
any thoughts/ideas you would like to chime in? other options?

Hmm. You're saving what, a whole $60-70 by getting an HK speedo and motor? $60-70 when you're already spending 200 bucks?
Dude, come on. Just get the Tekin RX8 system.

RE: brushless rc8t
I recently picked up 2 race roller RC8t's and 2 extra chassis's, one is gonna go nitro, the other is gonna go brushless.
I recommend the Mamba Max systems. I've had several Castle motors and esc's and not one has ever failed me. They are expensive off the bat, but the ease of the programming and the high voltage capabilites make it all worth it, in my eyes. Keep in mind, with this stuff the addage "you get what you pay for" is more true than ever.

Dont throw junk in your junk. Stick with Tekin, Castle Creations, Novak, etc, you will pay a bit extra but it is well worth it in the long run

Oh really? You must not see all the people that are crazy happy with their hobbywing/xe-run stuff and the $25 turnigy and zippy batteries.

Oh no, I have, but I've also seen that go both ways. Saying that about everything in the hobby in general is just not correct. It's different with every person, not everyone likes spending $100 on a battery when they don't have to, and that also goes for ESC's/motors.

You're right, but citing a vocal minority that is too cheap to even consider buying a Tekin, Novak, or even a Castle setup as "you don't always get what you pay for" is just ignorant, man.

I wasn't saying that personally, I have 2 Castle systems myself. I was just stating it in general, I'm not telling the OP the more expensive stuff is crap and xe-run all the way.

Its funny that this is such a similar situation to when I was looking for a 1/10 bl setup a few years back. I read through all the "you get what you pay for" posts and ended up going with an ezrun. Its had absolutely no issues from the first time I turned it on. I paid $60 and its been going strong for 3 years and counting. I think I got what I paid for.

meh...this again.
xerun's are killer systems, period. i used to race novak, smoked more esc's then i care to admit. i have never lost a single xerun. thats enough for me. the price is just a bonus.
tekin's are great, don't get me wrong. i don't see a whole lot of performance difference between xerun and tekin.
whats it going to take for hobbywing to get some respect? national championship?

but i'm not sending nothing out. i love my xeruns.
i'd be more interested in a rx8 vs xerun 150. but at the track the two seem to be very equal.

RE: brushless rc8t
RX8 realistically is not much more expensive than the XErun 150, and ThunderbirdJunkie would far prefer to pay a premium for something assembled by an American making $15 or so an hour than something assembled by an 8 year old in China for $8 a month.
