Affordable Noob Platform for 2WD Buggy Racing?
What's a reliable chassis kitto go with for 2WD stock class 17.5?
Our local track has been remodeled and we run 1/10 2wd buggy racing now in addition to the SCT's.
I have never raced a 1/10 buggy before...so as far as setup goes and tuning Ihave a ton to learn. Idon't even race my 1/8 Losi 8ight 2.0 that's pretty much a basher at the track lol.
The only buggies I have a little know how on are:
Losi 8ight 2.0
Baja 5b SS

I'll make some people happy. Choose a B4. I guess its better cause its cheaper (sloppyg and thunderbirdjunkie told me this) I have a bandit vxl and personally i love it. it's durable, great parts availability. upgradeable rtr for $300. but i wont suggest it cause a flame war begins between the bandit vxl and b4 when a thread like this comes up. screw it...i'll suggest it, but its your choice, the B4 or bandit vxl lol.

not sure how "upgradeable" a bandit is when you can't even buy bodies for it anymore (other than the stock one)

Hell, he could drive his Bandit, then a beat to hell, not-a-straight-part-on-it old RC10 or Losi JRX, and see which one he likes better[&:]

Being a Tamiya guy, I'm going to say DN01. It's a little more economical version of the TRF201.
BTW, are TBJ and sloppy related or something? It seems like where one is, the other isn't far.[sm=72_72.gif]

I am a fan of losi XXX buggies, if you are looking for cheaper, you could look for a used XXX buggy on ebay. I am a big fan of the XXX-BK2 and its graphite parts, but the others are good too. IMO, Losi has the best engineering of all. Associated is okay but Traxxas just has a ton of stupid problems like locking/seizing suspension(Bandit and other models w/ the same platform) or steering mechanisms rubbing on drive shafts(stampede 4x4).

go for the B4 i had one for a while, sold it, and now i kinda miss it, but life is saying no to RC right now either way go for the B4 mine was a blast, sadly it never saw a track but was a BLAST and surprisingly durable, not to say it never broke but it didn't break nearly as much as i expected.....

Ive seen many comments about the b4.1 being as durable as the bandit. And the b4.1 is also designed to race... So my answer is the b4.1.

You really can't beat the price for the B4.1 from a quality company like AE. Take a peak at the losi 22 also which is the newest kid on the 2wd buggy scene. If I were going 2wd buggy racing it would be between those two.

Yep I've been scoping out the TLR 22 versus the B4.1...I prefer kits so leaning on the TLR 22...
