Default Buying an SC10

I'm planning on buying my first SC truck, an SC10. Not sure if I want to go brushed or brushless. Anyone who owns one of these want to throw some pro's and con's my way? I've read a ton about the truck, but it's nice to see what actual owners think of them. Not sure if the local track races SC's or not. But if people are racing them, I definitely want to get involved.

I've owned or own 4 sc10's , two rtr's , one ftsc10 and the sc10 4x4......... Therefore I would suggest you should def. go with a brushless setup especially if your going to race. If money is no option look into the FTSC10 kit and buy a good brushless motor/esc combo, a couple of lipo's , and a lipo charger w/balancer...... If money is tight you can look into a new brushless rtr or try to find a good deal on a used brushless sc10 setup.........

Just a few tips, whichever sc10 you choose to buy (2wd version that is) you should def. upgrade to rpm front bumper, and a-arms, other then that the truck is very solid, and it handles better then any sct I've driven so far (losi, blitz, traxxas) stock vs stock............

If you have anymore questions or concerns feel free to ask and I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge, and if I can't I'm sure there are others who can.......

The ESC in the RTR BL SC10 is sketchy. Not sure when the RS version is supposed to hit stores, but it's supposed to have a better speedo than the current model brushless RTR.

When you buy your SC10 I personally recommend getting the factory kit and then putting your own electronics in. The factory kit is night and day from the RTR. Not saying that the RTR is bad. The factory kit is just that much better. Plus the kit comes with the really nice shocks. The shocks on the RTR really suck.

Right on. Thanks guys. Still up in the air as to what version I'm gonna get. All I know right now is it'll be 2wd.

It's not reliable. Motor's decent.

But yes, it's well worth the extra coin to get the Factory Team kit over the RTR.

I have that setup in my rtr b4.1 and so far I've been lucky to have no problems, however my friend has had two of the motors go out on him fairly quickly and the esc on his would overheat, I thought it might of been his gearing but according to him hes running a 16/87 or something along those lines

Yeah I told him that after talking to you about gearing advice, but hes set in keeping his pinion low and spur high for some reason so thats on him

According to tower hobbies, the brushless version of the SC10 that I was planning to buy is discontinued. The RS is coming out soon, but I have been thinking about getting the brushed version, and maybe throwing in [link=http://www.hobbypartz.com/car.html]this[/link] brushless setup. Anyone know anything about them?

I have a brushed one. I love it, but I sit and stare at the factory team upgrades a lot. I wish I would have bought the FT kit to begin with. You will love the brushed version, but if you are like most of us. You will want more speed and control soon enough. Plus, if you build it, you will know it from the ground up.

I have already put a brushless set up in mine

man, this is always how I get. I can't make up my mind. I don't live in a a town with a big RC community, so I'm really confined to RCU and youtube. Now that I'm also considering going brushed with a later BL conversion, the HPI Blitz has suddenly also become appealing.

Just pull the trigger and buy one. You will be smiling when you open the package no matter what.

Got my SC10 yesterday. Sick truck, and I'm really glad I bought it. I can't wait to get this thing over to the local track.

CRAP! I'm Kinda bummed. I went to run the truck today at one of the city parks. I plugged in the battery, turned the truck on, put it on the ground and grabbed the throttle. The truck did nothing. Picked the truck back up, and could hear a sizzling sound, so I tore the body off, turned it off, and burned my hand, unplugging it. Not sure how this happened, but the ESC and battery pack are cooked. It has got to be a fluke, cause these trucks are not garbage.

Did you buy it brand new? If so its still under warranty so contact AE and they will replace the esc for free (possibly will need new motor as well)..... What battery did you use and what kind of plugs did you use (Deans, traxxas, bullet)?
