Best Offroad RC Car
What is the best 1/10 scale offroad rc car? I decided to get one for myself, the price limit is $400. It doesn't matter if it's a kit or not.
What do you recommend a truck or buggy?
Are these any good
Team Associated Factory Team SC10
TA Factory Team RC10B4
HPI 1/10 Blitz

the sc10, as it's good out of the box and has all the adjustments to make it better, hell if an old guy can go fast with one it must be good.

questionable ESC
poor suspension
ugly body, and no nice ones are even available to purchase
it's literally a 15 year old design, and as a result it's a pain to work on
comes with junky battery and charger that you'll throw away
the only people who'd give a bandit a positive review are people who have only owned a bandit.

What are you going to be using it for? And yes, the Traxxas stuff does not come close to Team Associated. I'm not a Traxxas hater, I own both Traxxas and TA and there's no comparison.

RE: Best Offroad RC Car
I know Traxxas isn't exactly the most loved company here... but I own a Rustler VXL and Slash 4x4. For what you'll be doing, I can definitely recommend the Slash 4x4. Why? It is extremely durable (see attached video below), 4WD (great for all terrain), comes with all waterproof electronics (so much more fun that way ) and cost me $400.
I know it may not be the BEST, but I love it!
Here's a video of me doing some jumps with friends. Car is completely stock except for an el-cheapo Venom 11.1V 6400mAh LiPo battery. It is EXTREMELY durable!

If you don't know much, go with electric because it doesn't need tuning. I think that the Traxxas Summit takes the cake for best offroader. With the two speed transmission and remote locking diffs it is just about invincible. They are $550 new, but I bought mine for $400 used in good condition on ebay.

I own alotta traxxas trucks and even I wouldn't buy a nitro pede/sport. Since your new-go electric, Alot less headaches when your a noob. and yeah-this the electric section. For that money I'd buy an RC10GT2 RS.

I love Associated,I have multiple cars dating back to the RC-12 original 1982. but I just got a Traxxas ERevo brushless and its sick. I am tearing neighbors yards apart and chasing animals out of mine. Its durable so far( one month) and it only took me a couple charges to get used to the handle. I made some adjustments and its sick. LiPo battery makes it even crazier. I have dropped in from 6-10 feet so far with decent landings, and it doesn't flinch, no damage yet..Knock on wood. Good luck.

Best all-around RC car, in terms of racing and bashing, in my opinion, is the Associated SC10 platform. The truck is is tough enough to actually play with and good enough, with the right upgrades, to race. You can set it up for one or the other or for a little of both. Short course is just plain versatile.
However, if you know your car is never, ever, gonna see any surface other then a groomed track, 1:10 2wd buggy is the way to go. The good drivers, the really fast guys, all drive 2wd buggies. They may be toying around with the return of Stadium Truck right, but they're open-wheel buggy guys first.
My current rides:
Associated SC10B (mostly) Factory Team
Associated RC10B5 kit
Associated RC10T4 kit - cannibalized for parts

Defibrillators R Us
I've been known to bring back to life a thread or two.
Everyone has their reasoning why some types and brands of RCs go at the top of a list like this thread title says. Hopefully, in a short time frame, I'll be able to insert the Axial Yeti into the this list/thread...or did I just do that?
