Default Help choosing battery & charger (savage 2350)

Been in the hobby quite a while exclusively in the nitro portion, looking to learn and play around with the Electric end of it now.

I recently read this article
http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-lipo-batteries.html

Now i need help choosing battery packs and a charger, and connectors

Car? Savage 2350

I will be running 2 2s in series (is this battery a good option)
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=11938

along with this charger?
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=7028
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s..._GENUINE_.html

OR

http://www.hobbypartz.com/73p-ac680-accharger.html

Would this work for my application? Since the charger is relatively cheap should, should i buy 2 to charge both batteries at the same time, or can i run them in series and get only one charger?

These look like ec3 connectors, do i need to purchase different connectors to hook up to the savage?

any more info would be appreciated as i want to order all at once, i do have a soldering station already.

THANKS IN ADVANCED!!!

Good choices for batteries and charger. Might be worth spending the extra to get a charger that can charge two batts at once, since you'll be using them in pairs.

50c burst on a 6000 on a truck that can spike over 300a is kind of ehhhhh, but, you're at a good starting point.

When you first start running the truck, keep an eye on battery and motor temps.

I don't think the 2350 ever gets up to 300A [X(]

I use a pair of 5000mAh 20c for pissing around and they get warm, but never anything even resembling hot. My 30-60C don't get warm at all tho.

ditto I use 5200 30C 2S's and they never got warm. I also use a 150A motor/ESC so that setup should be pushing it when it max's. Don't think my batteries went over 105 degrees on a hot day after 30 mins. I do gear very conservatively though.

Back on topic if you go with the accucell 6 chargers I'd get 2 and make http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27554 to power them
I've tried the 2 power supplies made for chargers that were rated to allow me to run 2 chargers simotaneouly off them, and toasted both of them running only 1 charger not even at full power. That server power supply on the other hand has survived me running 3 chargers at once at full blast, and can still take more I estimate 6 chargers at least could run at once off it

The battery never tried the nanos, but heard god things about them

And charge in parallel. And get a nice pc power supply and do this...
http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Com...b-Power-Supply

But also put the 3.3 wires because those are good for breaking in motors...

hmm only issue with a PC power supply is that the power listed is not fully available to the 12v line. I tried the PC power supply method with 2 power supplies one was a 200watt one was a 350, and neither could charge my lipos at 5A's with the accucell 6. Looked at the sticker and found the 12V line was only putting out like 4.5A's on the one(was able to charge at 3.8Amps max), other sticker was destroyed. The server power supply on the other hand puts out 47Amps on the 12v rails (well it only has 12v rails) and only requires 3 pins to be jumpered. So no playing with resistors, and twisting a pile of the same colored wires together so you can pull the current you need. Also found it cheaper than most PC power supplies off ebay. I know some will disagree with me but this was based on my experiences with 2 of the many PC power supplies I had laying around.

Now as a lab power supply the pc power supply is great

I use this power supply http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...r-Supply-Black

And a dual charger, and I charge 2x2S 5000mAh packs at 10A each simultaneously. Makes charging for the flux a breeze, 6 packs ready in about 100 minutes (less than 80 if I don't balance). I've only got a couple of cycles on this charger, I'll do a write up of it in a few days, but so far it's been outstanding mated to that power supply. REally happy with these 2 purchases.

I like the idea of this charger since i can charge them @ the same time.

So my battery choice is ok, this charger seems good. I have at least 20 PC power supplies so i think i will make my own.

What is the connector coming out of the savage 2350 ECU, is it deans?

Do i need to order deans connectors for these batteries?

Thanks again!

Yeh, 2350's MMP is deans equipped and comes with a deans serial connector too (for 2x2S batt). Depending which batteries you buy, you may need to solder female deans to the battery, yeh.

PS. I also have at least 20 PC power supplies, yet I still shelled out $140 bucks for a nice strong purpose built one. Think about it if you have the money

i will be using this battery
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=11938

So would this be the proper deans connecter
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=10765

And as far as the charger/power supply goes, is there a combination that can charge both my batteries in parallel for less than 100?

1) Battery seems good.

2) Those deans connectors seem very expensive, can't you get those at your LHS?

3) Maybe, checking your links below...

K, charger and that PSU would surely do it, but more than $100, still, decent combo if you get that board that allows you to charge them in parallel with it, which I think you do.

OKEY
Listen i know that all these chargers are cheap. But remember cheap electronics dont last, short or have no warranty. I just dont trust Chinese products that are made with cheap and cloned parts. i promise these products have a huge risk are electric fires or shorts. Now for the charger i would go with...Passport Ultra...look at this

LINK yes its $130 but its worth it. It comes with everything you need balances, has AC and DC power included, charges all batteries, has temp gauge, its does alot.

BUT AS FOR BATTERIES ... Hobbykings... Trinigy is are excellent batteries you want to choose USA warehouse then you pick your battery get over 25c and a soft pack, as the hard packs shatters upon jumps.

figured it out,

the nano techs are international warehouse which sounds like a pain.

Which of these two batteries..?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

2nd one is a bit larger which is my only concern, otherwise its 40c vs 30c.
