Default Sidewinder SCT combo

I've read that some people have problems with the ESC. All those were back in 2010. I was wondering if Castle changed anything since then because I just got one.

I have one in my Losi XXX-SCB and have not had a single problem with it. It did strip my first spur gear, but that was my fault for not meshing the gears properly. I have since installed the optional Losi Kevlar spur and adjusted the gear mesh properly and the combo has worked fine everv since. The power boost this package has given my XXX-SCB is awesome. It will keep up with my Losi Ten T!

After mounting the combo I couldn't get it to move back and forth smoothly. I used paper to mesh the gears. Right now I'm thinking its not the mesh that's wrong because before I mounted the motor it was hard to turn it with my hands. Is this normal?

It looks like it works fine when I press the throttle.
