Nitro guy needs info on electric
ok. I have been running nitro cars for about 5 years. I am now thinking about going to electric so I can race in the winter. What do I need to get.
I used to race electrics a long time ago black foot, grass hopper, and rc10's etc. this was before every this changed i.e. batteries and ESC chargers. How much would all of this cost.
I was looking at the tc3
What type of batters should I get
Charger
ESC
Motor (what is brushless)

Wow, well there several questions that need to be answered first.
What class do you want to run?
How much do you want to spend?
Brushless motors are exactly what it sounds like. They don't have brushes or a comm that need to be replaced or trued. In a sense brushless motors are the opposite of a brushed motor in that instead of having the magnets on the can and the wire on the armature, brushless have the wire on the can and the magnets on the armature.
Brushless motors are virtually maintenance free. The only place that can break down is the bearings or the circuit board int he motor. The problem with them if you want to race is that they are not allowed in ROAR sanctioned races at this time. If all you are going to do is race club races, ask the race operators if they will allow brushless motors in the mod class. If so I highly recommend them. The Novak Super Sport Brushless motor is about the equivalent to a 10 turn double that is machine wound or an 11 turn single hand wound motor.
