Default transmitter and receiver

i see where the transmiters and reciecers are upgradeable. what does the aftermarket one do that the stock don't? and what it the best one? and why?

Aftermarket radios and receivers tend to have more customization options, better build quality and signal resolution, more channels, etc. Once you get serious about the hobby few RTR radios will satisfy you.

Also, most newer computerized radios offer model memory, meaning you can have one transmitter for various different models (each one has it's own receiver) This way you can save settings for different cars and just switch between them from the transmitter.

kool i always that a transmitter was a transmitter. so basically i can get one and set it up my my driving style?

yeah. Check out Horizonhobby.com and towerhobbies.com and look at their 3+ channel 2.4ghz radios, you'll get a good idea of what features are out there.
