Indentification for Vintage Buggy
Hi, I just got a hold of 2 older R/C Buggies. I believe they are Tamiya, but I cannot find the exact chassis style with this bumper,Wheels,Shocks,Body, and a Unique undercarriage storage for an Extra 4 AA batteries along with the usual place for the Rechargable battery pack. This had Traxxas gear inside.. Old Reciever, 2 servos and the regular speedcontrol that is manual. The shocks appear to be oil filled and yellow and plastic, unlike the Grasshopper and hornets almost purple thin shocks. But they remind me of the super blackfoot type I had with that truck. The chassis was sealed with screws and had a drivers head but no body, and had the lexan body that attaches over that. It is in very bad shape. Has a grasshopper appearance, but I saw none with the AA battery section . The Tires, Though extreamly eaten away from the weather and the rims also appear to be from the Early Tamiya models. But none of the models have this complete appearance, especially the chassis. and that looks unaltered. The lexan is painted, but has no stickers except for one that says "Monroe"for Monroe Shocks and Also "Super Gripper" Which is a Tamiya Tire Model. Does anyone have an Idea if this is Tamiya , and if not , where to look next? I have looked at Kyosho,Traxxas and Futaba, and none of those are remotely close. Any help from all the Vintage Model Builders and collectors would be appreciated. Anita

Sounds like Radio Shack or Nikko cars if it had a spot for the 7.2v stick pack with a spot for 4 AA's above it.
Alternatively, Traxxas gear in one of them could mean it was the predecessor to the Spirit (Tom Cat?) but that still shouldn't have a 4AA holder on it for the radio gear.

My Tamiya Falcon has a spot for the battery pack and a spot for 4AA batteries.

RE: Indentification for Vintage Buggy
Well, I appreciate it. From time to time I come across a R/C out here in nomansland, and I get curious about ones that I have no luck finding . I had at one time 3 or 4 I couldent identify, but they have moved onto someone elses hands. This one, I was determined to figure out. And now, I can take this one apart and decide if there is enough good parts on it to rebuild, or if It would be better to sell for parts. I am keeping this site as a favorite, incase one day I can repay this and identify one for someone here too. Anita
