What are some things that sould be taken to the track?
Tips and Hints?

So - all the tools you use to work on the car/truck, battery(s), charger(s), power supply, tires, spare parts, toolkit with spare bits and pieces (nuts and bolts), pit table, easy-up (tent thingy), extension cord(s), towel, wash bucket, the list can be endless......
But, at the same time, I have a buddy that shows up at the track occassionally on his motorcycle - and other than his car/truck, and a basic tool kit, the only other thing he brings is enough batteries for practice and three heats (including the main). He stows all of it in a backpack.

I usually make sure I have a least 3 batteries with just in case one decides to take a dump. One of the best things you can do is make sure all your tires are balanced.

Especially considering since everyone's now running Lipo unless there are few classes and little time between your heats, plenty of guys get by with just one.
Definately no reason to have three.

I'm a subscriber to Starfleet methodology. Have a backup and have a backup for the backup. I would take 3 batts, all my tools, a spare motor, a spare speed control, as many parts as I had, my screw box, spare packs of AA batteries incase of camera or TX failure and no rechargeables around. Chargers, power supply (and croc clips to charge from car in case of club genny failure) I'd even take the soldering iron, some spare plugs, heatshrink and #10 cable in case something got cut/damaged.

Speaking of general racing tips, here's the secret of car setup...don't change it. At least, not until you can complete 10 laps in a row without stopping, and finish all the laps within 1 second of each other. It is not worth making setup changes until then, due to the fact that you will not be able to quantify the results if you are inconsistent. You won't know if the improvement was you or the setup change you made. Achieve consistency first, then start fiddling with the setup, and only change one setting at a time before doing another 10 laps. Also, when testing setup changes, don't count the single laps. Get a benchmark for how long it takes to complete 10 or 20 laps (provided you are consistent of course). Good changes will make a big and noticeable difference to a time for 10 laps compared to a time for 1.

Finally something he and I agree on. Take it from an avid racer who spends more time at the track than anywhere else on weekends. Bring it all. Whatever you dont bring, you will need. Ive filled the bed of my Ranger with supplies just for three trucks to go racing. I have a toolbox with special parts and tools just for each vehicle, and it all comes with me.

Buy more speed controller than you actually need, and keep your finger in it.

Stay off the walls (both of them), don't race other cars but instead race the clock, stay out of the way of the fast cars - and if you're wreckin', slow down.
