i bought a brushed rustler for 75 bucks used. i am thinking on upgrading to a brushless system. i dont no which one i should get? i dont no much about the newer stuff as i have had a pan car for 10 years but am just now getting into the scene again... so should i go to brushless or save for a whole new car? which brushless system an lipo battery is best for the money? this is just a basher so it dont have to be best of the best but i do wanna be able to tell a huge difference for the money.... thanks

If you want to go brushless and have no budget-http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Connector-85T this motor and esc will mostly be better because of its lower turns and will get more torque.
Or if you need to go cheap-http://www.hobbypartz.com/26p-blcomb...9r-4370kv.html Either one of these are great.

And the battery- http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-ROAR-Approved Protek makes great lipos.

no of any around the cheaper ones price that are in stock? i would buy that one right now if it was in stock! at the 60$ price point i find it hard to beat. 80 $ would even be fine. i would like to have a battery an brushless system for around 150....

http://www.hobbypartz.com/car.html I have 2-3 of those and had no issues. Only thing you will need to solder wires onto the motor, and pick up some bullet connectors, and a battery connector to solder on

http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezrun-35a-9t-3650-motor.html should work only have to solder your battery connector of choice on

either of those will work fine in the Rustler. as for a battery and charger, i would go lipo if at all possible. better runtimes (up to 45 minutes plus) and better power.
battery: http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl5000...-hardcase.html
charger: http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html
all that combined with either of those brushless systems that Syco linked should get you up to 35mph plus depending on gearing, and around 35 minutes of runtime.

you will need to buy the new metal transmission gears to replace the old plastic ones. and yeah it would probably be a good idea to replace the bushings in the hubs with bearings front and rear, but its not necessary.

also u say it will get me 35mph? i thought the brushed car was rated at 35 an the brushless systems got u up to like 60mph? like the rustler vxl was supposed to run 60mph out of the box?

the whole claim of "60mph" is only if you have a high capacity 3s lipo and really high gearing. about 40mph with the rustler is all you need. after that the handling gets sketchy and it is just a bunch of broken parts.

If you want a good set up for the Rustler will be the Hobbywing 80A ESC which you cpould use with both sensored or sensorless motors for $65 and then get a Tacon motor in the 3500 to 4000kv range. That will run to about $90 and then you can decide a good lipo battery with 30 or 40c discahrge rate. The total amount should not be more that $135.

sorry for the delayed response, been busy. for the XL-5 version, your gonna see around 20-25+mph with the stock battery. with the VXL, your probably gonna see about 35+mph on the stock battery. your probably thinking not a whole lot of a difference for all that extra cash, but remember when you combine the VXL system with lipo, that's really when it comes alive. with a 3s lipo, you can easily hit 50+. but just remember all these speeds are greatly dependent on gearing and your choice of battery, so its all up to you, really.

I know from experience that hobbypartz has some great brushless systems and batteries. For 150, you outta be able to get a brushless combo ezrun/hobbywing and 2 5000mah lipo batteries (sky lipo). If you don't have a charger, a Thunder ac6 (same company) is about 45 bucks, and will balance, charge, fast charge and storage charge lipo, life, and peak nimh and others. Just from my experience, the hobbypartz links that the forum gave you are great.
