Default RC Car for 4 year old

I would like to buy an electric RC car for my 4 year old son.

Up till now he has been playing toy rc cars, but they don't last that long.

I'm looking for something that he can have fun with, is reliable and not too expensive and easy to maintain.

I'm from India and can get support for HPI and Traxaas.

From your experiences can members please suggest a car?

Also, just for your information, I'm an intermediate aeromodeller.

Thanks for reading my post.

I highly recommend the Traxxas Stampede. It is a very durable truck and the electronic speed control can be set for beginner (it will give you speed control from zero to 1/2 throtle) This feature alone will allow your son to get familiar with the model at low speeds, avoiding expensive damage. Also the model has waterproof electronics. It comes with bronze oillite bushings on the outer axles, I highly suggest buying the optional sealed ballbearings to replace them with.

HPI Recon isn't bad. Only issue if it breaks parts can be quite costly (but for cheaper replacements you can use propulse parts, or megatech megapro). But in stock form it shouldn't break easily.

Go with the 2wd Traxxas Stampede. Here is a video of my son when he was 6 driving his Stampede. His Stampede is the bronze/yellow truck.

Traxxas's vxl line up is great rc size for children; powerful if needed (can be throttled down), durable but parts are easy to get when broken. That being said I recommend the vxl summit

The only VXL Summit Traxxas makes is a 1/16 which in my opinion would not be very fun seeing how it could have a hard time with thick grass and such.

Yeah, definetly go with traxxas's stampede, or even the slash, if you go brushed the slash is better because it has bearings it in, where as the xl5 stampede still has bushings

Is he going to be running this thing indoor or outdoor? At my local indoor race track most the really little kids are using things like the 1/24 losi rock crawlers. And they sure look like there having fun to me.

My son had (still has) a tamiya lunch box when he was 4. He is 9 now and it still gets use. The traxxaas line up slash/rustler/bandit/stampede are all great choices too

It will be run mostly outdoors.

I don't think I can get Losi support in India.

Thanks a lot everyone for your replies.
