Default Castle Creations

OK...I called Castle. they said for the 1/10 brushless combo's u must, at lease run 4500mah /30c .
for the 1/8 setups it's 5000/30c... I usually use 5000/40. so i'm good!! But ...I want to know if any one out there is use less then what Castle is recamending, and is not have any trouble. The reason, why is alot of the 5000/30c an 40c r sold out.. I want to get a few more 4s packs for my Mamba Monster. IM NOT GOING TO SPEND 200.00 & up on any Venom, Reedy, Max Amp packs. The Gens Ace packs r doing great..
there priced at 45.00/65.00..Give me ur thoughts...plz!!!

They are obliged, as a manufacturer, to cover their own butts! If they say to you its ok to use a 4000mAh 15C battery and then your battery melts (because your setup pulled more than 60A), or your ESC fails, you can't blame them. It's not that it's 'required', it's what's 'recommended'.

As far as using batteries with lower capablities, it depends on the motor. If you know the motor current will never exceed 60A continuous and 90A burst, then you can safely use a 4000mAh 15C battery. The battery won't last as long as a higher specced one would, and may not give as much punch, but it shouldn't cause a failure.

Buy flightmax packs from hobbyking. You can get 3s 5000mAh 40C for less than 40 bucks each.

SPC makes very good batteries and are inexpensive. I have a 3s 4700mah 25c and a 2s 5000mah 25c and they are awesome in my Rustler. I run a HW 8.5t 4000kv motor with a Dynamite 70amp esc.

Most of the batts I run in my MMM systems are 5000mah 40C, but I have a couple that are just 5000mah 20C. They sem to be just fine so far the only difference I have noticed is that they do get slightly warmer than the 40C batts but they still don't get hot. I also noticed a slight difference in performance. Its not enough to actually "feel", but when I put the GPS on the car I loose 2-3 MPH with the 20C batts.
