Upgrade Setups for a Traxxas Slash? RPM vs. Aluminum

RE: Upgrade Setups for a Traxxas Slash? RPM vs. Aluminum
Well u might be waiting a long time to wait for the stock shocks to ware out....
Those Shafts are a genuine traxxas upgrade part
And the RPM parts are especially made to suit the traxxas shocks. No mix matching there
Nothing complicated about shocks, one of the most simple parts on Rc cars...

There Are no real reccomendations,
Frustrating I know....
It all depends on driving style
Suspension setup (what shock mounting positions)
Springs
Size of piston
Surface
Jumps....
The list goes on...
Start with 30-40wt and go from there... Everyone's setup is so different, there is no magical number.
IMO don't rush and buy shocks u will most likely ruin the cars setup. Play around with what u have...
No kidding.... What's wrong with the handling ATM? Should be able to help u get the stock ones dialed in nicely... Have u done a setup sheet for it?

Setup sheet? What would that be? Remember im a novice, and attempting to further my experience. All this knowledge and advice so far have been very enlightening.

Ahhh sorry traxxas have a sheet that u can write down ur setup... It's very handy, if u are like me I forget all my settings.
Was gonna say fill one out and post it up....
Also where do u drive it mainly and what conditions would. Want it setup for?

I rarely race, as tracks are quite a distance around my area. I want to build a really solid basher out of the slash platform. I plan to buy the Raptor platform, im just doing preplanning.
Conditions will be your usually offroad material. Nothing extreme.

If u don't have a slash yet might be worth getting a roller and working from there....only $70 odd bucks on eBay, mind u I still find mine fun
IMO the slash is no great brasher. It's great for dirt and grass, but on road it just flips and on gravel it's neer impossible to stop from spinning out

The slash seams most durable cpared to the stampede and others. I wanted a truck style (not monster, buggy or truggy). I would start with a roller, but i feel easing into the hobby with a rtr would be less stressful.

But seeing you want a truck style go for it. Only you will know what will make you happy

yes parts are similar, If i get a monster truck most likely i would want 4wd. I like the Raptor Slash for it's uniquenes a more realistic chassis.

I agree with most of what people are saying. The one thing that's true is that the Slash, Rustler, Bandit, etc. are very similar in terms of their builds, however they each run very differently.
The Rustler:is very good at fast straight runs on pavements, behaves pretty good in dirt but can get squirrly, and takes jumps very well.
The Slash: is pretty good on the pavement, behaves amazing in dirt, great for off-the-line take-offs (4x4 models), needs a bit more trigger inputs when jumping and tends to tip over during sharp turns due to thin tires.
The Stampede: not made for pavement, behaves amazing in dirt and rough terrain, top heavy so it flips over alot, jumps are good if / when you land right.
The Bandit: is very good at fast straight runs on pavements, behavesgood in dirt but is VERY squirrly, and takes jumps very well if you compensate forits light frontend.
