im thinking of getting this esc (http://www.brushlesshobbies.com/80A-...mer_p_112.html) because of all the great reviews, what motor should I pair with it? Im thinking somewhere between 4,200 and 5000 kv? Anyone know any motor that is the best bang for the buck in that range? Im looking for something thats around $50-60.

do you have a specific motor in mind? I would like to keep it at 4000kv since that is what the rtr version comes with

i have the savages xs rtr the esc is crap and i burn't out 3 of them i just switched to the traxxas vxl system it $160 bucks but not much slower them the stock motor and esc a little bit of mods but i looks cool and its an hpi truck with traxxas electronis lol.

heres a view that inspired me

hpi's esc is a rebadged sidewinder that is out dated and way over geared imo just get the kit and drop in the traxxas vxl.

You must have good luck with the VXL setups, I have had several and they all have thermaled at some point and they also have a tendency to just shut off whenever they feel like it.

i bought the cooling fan cuase it didgoto stage 1 thermal shutdown one time but she was getting pretty hot and i was using a crappy venom battery. when i bought the fan i bought a new battery duratrax oynx 25C 4000mah 2s. much more power and better quality then the venom battery that venom battery is noww for my tamiya lunchbox lol. that got a Xl-5 esc that i had for about 2 years and a super pro modd motor.
