Default brushless system help

I have a slash 2 and 4x4 and want to upgrade from the VXL system. Looking around i see thatboth tekin and novak have SC systems but i dont know anyone who has run them. Any one out there have any advice on which company is best bang for your buck or which systems will be an improvemnet over the VXL. thanks

I, personally say, Novak is better. I'm a novak fan. I own 2 Novak combos.

If you looking for the best quality tekin is the way to go, but it comes at a price.  I have a novak setup and am happy with it.

The Sidewinder is good. Alot of people run those. I'm running the VXL 3S Waterproof 200A ESC and Brushless Motor. (I know, it's VXL, but it is a gigantic improvement) It's great. They run about $180.

Why are you looking to upgrade? More speed/power? Smoother? Did the VXL go kaput?

You didn't notice much difference with teh castle because you didn't change the gearing. The advantage the sct set offers over the vxl is about 40% more torque. You could have gone up quite a few teeth on the pinion, making the truck a lot faster.

Reedy stuff is excellent, but is often not basher oriented, they are a areal race brand, for example, their motors are vented, which means they run cooler of course, but you need to clean them after every run.

The higher the KV= More speed less torque
The lower the KV= more torque less speed

i'm still debating of which of these to do but i think the best options are as follows. do either a sidewinder Sv2 with a neu 1406 5700kv or 4600kv combo, or if you want roar legal, sidewinder SCT 3800kv combo or just the sidewinder SCT ESC with a 5700kv or 4600kv neu 1406 motor

edit; i just made up my mind, im going with a sidewinder SCT and a tekin redline 448 4800kv, did script asylum top speed calculator and got 40 on 2s and 60 on 3s while getting about 60k RPM on 3s just the motors' limit

I HAD a Castle Sv2 system with a 5700kv motor in my Evader.  Till it gave out for some reason.  I would think those higher kv motors wouldn't have the torque for a big Slash unless you went with a 3800kv or lower.  But that's just what I've read here.  I got soured on Castle due to their lack of communication or any kind of what I'D call "customer service".

Novak systems are fine and do not get hot fast. I ran a 10 minute main with a Novak 4.5 550 motor and on my temp gun, the ESC got to 110 (from what i can remember), and the motor got to 130 in aheavy Nexx10SC, stock gearing. A good 540 is this motor. It will really make your rc car move. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...tor-Combo-105T
