Default No Go! Help

My truck had rolled down a dirt mound and knocked the motor loose un attaching the gears. So when i screwed the motor back in place i had placed to gears to close to each other. After doing a run noticed my motor was smoking. After cooling down i moved the motor over a little giving more space between the gears. My stampede stopped going! I am guessing i over heated the motor to much and ruined it. Could i be wrong and it be something else? I dont want to just go buy another motor if there is something else that could have gone bad.

if its the XL-5 stampede you probably melted the brushes due to binding in the drive chain from the pinion and spur being too close
more then likely you need a new motor

sounds like you had the gear mesh too tight (spur to pinion gear spacing)
That made the motor have to work much harder and thus it overheated.
if smoke comes from the motor, 99.99% of the time that means it is dead.
Time for a new motor.
A HPI firebolt 15t is generally cheaper and will do the job.
Or spend some extra $$$ and upgrade to brushless power.

I bought a HPI Firebolt 15t for my budget short course build for the princely sum of £6.37, less than ten bucks US.

Great budget motor with a smooth throttle curve and decent top-end. Haven't run it in the XL-5 which is a little heavier but it shouldn't be too far off the Titan.
