Best value for 300$ ?
Hi I'm looking to buy a offroad car to race around in sandpits, just for fun !
My budget is 300$.
The criteria is 4WD , 1/10 or 1/8 size, brushless engine, and be pretty fast
I have no intentions to race with the car so no particular brand is needed.
The Traxxas E-revo type of car is cool and something like that im looking for, except that the Traxxas is way to expensive :/ maybe a stadium-truck/truggy is what im looking for?
Should I buy a RTR or buy a kit from hobbyking?
Any ideas what I should get?

Well for top of the line stuff, $300.00 would be hard to find.
I am no racer Rick, just my brother, brother in laws and I get together and crash a lot, well we call it racing. All of use have a DHK Razr. Out the door it was $220.00. We have replaced the steering servos and a few parts here and there. Mostly due to our bad driving.
You will find you need another charger and more batteries. We have (3) of the 5000mah batteries and the stock 2300mah battery. We have the batteries on the chargers all the time so we have a battery ready to go.

There are a few options in the 1/10 scale that fit the budget.
ECX brushless torment ($250ish)
I think the duratrax evader brushless comes in about the same as the ECX
I believe you can get a brushless SC10 for about $300 (check tower hobbies)
For 1/8 scale, you are limited to entry level brands like redcat. The earthquake 8e, mirage pro, backdraft 8e ect.
Maybe some of the exceed models.
I think maybe the axial Exo RTR is $300? About the same size as a short course truck, but 4wd.

Sorry to bring this thread up, but i did not wish to start a new one and end up with a page of hate ahha
I am currently looking for a R/C truck or something for off road use 1/10 no smaller. I would like Brushless and 4wd(snow play) I looked at the options above. Some are still available some are not. But most are 2wd.
Max i want into this is 350
I also found some traxxas Pede for around 300 online vxl 4x4.
Thanks

shoulda made a new thread as most people only read the 1st 1-2 post and reply, but the pede 4x4 isn't a bad vehicle I have one I have a few minor gripes namely its driveshafts are plastic, but outside that I don't really got any complaints as its pretty decent.
for snow though... I wouldn't use brushless as it will dig a rut fast. One of the most fun vehicles I had for snow use was a brushed stock HPI wheely king. Its solid axle design helps it not get stuck, and if you lock the diffs it definitely isn't gonna get stuck. Axial vehicles probably would do damn well too. But if you decide on the pede you will pretty much need tires I think they are called sand paws so it grips the snow, and doesn't just dig a rut.
Things with snow use is to remember that you have to thoroughly hose every piece of metal down with WD40 after EVERY run or it will rust fast. This is doubly true if you live where they salt the roads, or use rocksalt on the sidewalk you have to 1st wash it down with clean water, and dry it before the WD40 as if you don't it will turn the RC to a rusted mess, and rust bearings (personally I like plastic bushings for winter use on parts that might get wet)

well a 7yo probably would love the Wheely king as it pops wheelies, and looks like a monster truck. Stock its pretty durable, and can go over most things. As its $230ish RTR (last I looked) it fits the budget.
As far as other models... honestly it all depends on what style you want.

I've seen a lot of guys use the scx10 in the snow, solid axle locked diffs.
I have an scx10 honcho with a 20t motor instead of 27t and it does very well and has good wheel speed.

ECX ruckus 2wd Brushless. About $290 RTR.
waterproof, 3s lipo capable, 4pole brushless motor (plenty of torque) similar chassis design.
The ruckus does not come with as good a battery as the stampede, but with either model you will want to buy extra packs anyway.
The ecx doesn't have as much aftermarket support as the traxxas.
One advantage to the ruckus, is that it is longer. It has the same wheelbase as a short course truck. I have driven a brushed ruckus and a stampede vxl. With the longer wheel base the ruckus is a bit more stable. The suspension layout is a bit better for handling as well.
The difference in handling wont be notice if bashing in your backyard (not much anyway) but take it on a track or on pavement and the difference in how the 2 trucks handle is obvious.
So, a bit cheaper, handles a bit better, a tad larger.....but not as good a stock battery and less aftermarket parts available.

Should i be worried about the lug nuts which are known to come off?
The ruckus looks good.
I read about the power being less than that of the Pede VXL?
Kinda wish it was an AWD Brushless system in the Ruckus. Im wondering if AWD is something i really need to be worried about?
Either way i do need 2 RC vehicles maybe ill get a Pede 4x4 or Ruckus 4x4 brushed and yeah still need a brushless.....

ive had lug nuts come off....just need to check them after every battery pack.
ruckus does have a lower amp ESC, so it probably isn't as fast as the stampede....but these days most brushless trucks can do 35-40mph on a 2s and over 50mph on a 3s....and trust me, that is fast.
4wd is nice, added traction and more control. But also more parts to maintain and more that can break.

Def like the HPI line but i want a bigger MT with more clearance. But not the additional few hundred extra that come with that.
I really like the ECX Ruckus BL but the 2wd is holding me back. I like the suspension, design and size.
I am considering getting the 4x4 ruckus for my son and later doing the BL conversion but also put me in a postion where im concerned about parts for the ruckus.
Part of me wants to go traxxas but i know the pede likes to flip and the price point for the VXL 4x4 is very high. At that price point i feel like there could be some better choice?

It looks awesome, its got avc to help keep it under control. Someone had something about needing to double the chassis plate or braces I don't remember. Other wise it looks awesome
