XL5 is not brushless. XL5 is Traxxas's waterproof ESC. They can handle up to a 7.4v 2S LiPO. I think they may be able to use a 3S battery, but thats really pushing it.

Yes. The Slash, unless it is the VXL edition, is the same ESC.

Ok then, Its pretty easy to make it brushless right? Just need an esc/motor? Or are more upgrades needed to like the drive line and such?

Yeah; all you'd need is an ESC and motor. About all Traxxas models are brushless ready.

My tornado is nitro and my exo terra is brushless but nothing about it is waterproof, I live in az so id like something that I can use during monsoon season id like to see some water rooster tails instead of dirt lol

The VXL-3S (if thats the ESC you're talking about) can handle 3S, hence the name.

I guess thats its. I know its a blue esc and motor and the motor is 3500kv. That about it besides water proof.
Would that be a good system for either one of those cars? Idk what one I really want, I like the slash aloot but the stampede loooks cool.

Don't test that waterproof part. Mine didn't like it much. Switched to the Mamba Max.

Really? I bet the castle esc/motor is more expensive?
While we r talking about motors and escs. What temps should a motor run between and what temps should an esc run between?

The Mamba Max Pro is about the same price as the VXL 3s and it will handle up to 6S and will work with both sensored and regular motors. Has it's own cooling fan too. I love mine. They don't say waterproof though. Mine has been run in wet conditions and did fine. When my VXL3s got wet I kind of let it get submerged. That waterproof thing kind of made me feel like superman and I tried some pretty crazy stuff. IMO it should read water resistant. Just my opinion.

Check out HobbyWing.... They are extremely reliable, very cheap, and a great amount of adjustments
