Glues no good.
Hi People, can anyone give me a tip on keeping my DF02 tyres on the bead over 80km/h? not having much luck at present and when the wheels balloon unevenly I crash and break.

Beadlocks?
Idk of thats an option for that car but ive got them on my tornado and at 60mph with the tires balloned out they dont come apart or anything... Just a thought.
The wheels I have are proline epic btw. Now discontinued howver, they can be found on ebay for like 50 or 60$ for all 4 I think that price is right, might be a little less.

what kinda tires?
I use some racing buggy tires from Hotbodies with Brama 10b rims on my DF-02 with medium glue, and they have yet to balloon or rip at around those speeds.

OK thanks guys. Ive tried a few different tyres and I am currently running 102mm buggy tyres on 60mm wheels which are fine for 2S but they dont handle 3S for long. I will try and upload a couple of shots when I can get this iphone talking to my puter again. I am thinking bead locks are the go so I might try and find some online.

Did you try and lightly sand the rim, and then wash&dry where the glue goes? sometimes the glue doesn't adhere well due to crap being on the rim. Or if the rims are chrome the chrome will pull right off.

I think u are onto something syco, in the grand scheme for things 80km/h/50mph if not excessively fast.
allso the heat we have been having wouldn't help.
if u have cut the moulding crap of the tyre, lightly sanded the mounting surface on the wheel, used a medium-thick glue and taped or banded the tyres while the glue dries, they should be fine.

Ive not had a problem with any of my beadlocks and ive got dirt hawgs wrapped around them they are a soft tire that has alot of flex.
Syco is right though... If u have chrome wheels then the chrome will peel off I deal with chrome peel(chrome cancer is what we call it at work) all the time. To fix its just a bandaid to buy time is buff the peeling chrome away.

Might be the glue I'm using? Put same motor and battery in my TL01 drifter with alloy wheels and new tyres glued well with bike tube to hold them on while drying, didnt last 2 passes before tyres removed bits of themselves. Can anyone recommend a could glue?

Just to stop confusion I wipe all the surfaces down with alcohol cleaner before gluing, and have just acquired some acetone for my next attempt. It appears that breaking the bead on the wheels could be the culprit?

If when you inspect the tire after its been rpped from the rim, you see the plastic of the rim attached to the tire still, then your glue is not the problem. If they have separated at the glued bond, then it IS the glue that's the problem.
Use a specialist CA (I know loads of people think a CA is a CA and there's no need to pay through the nose for them, I disagree), I've had excellent luck getting truggy tires to stay on the rims on 6S using The RB Concept tire CA supplied by my LHS. Man, that truggy can tear the tires off anything, so I have to assume it would work for you as well.
I don't sand or prepare my rims in any way, shape or form, I just drop a bead and chase it round by squeezing it around the bead, adding another drop when needed and continuing. One of the great properties of this glue is that it flows like crazy, it goes halfway round the rim on its own, its so thin you have to be real careful, you can get it everywhere and not even feel it. Good glue.
