Default rc10?

Trying to figure out if this buy is worth it. The guy/gal says its an older TA rc10. Is there any market for parts on it? Motor, ESC, batteries, tx/rx, of course those yes, but the body is shot, needs some suspension work among other things. I'm not sure how the gearing is on it either. But it will need batteries. Price is at $50 so its not too bad on that end. I just want to make sure I can get parts if I buy it. Is the model correct?

It is a gold pan. Clean it up and make it nice and purdy, and it'll go for 200+ to the right person.

Yeah, I noticed that after looking at the classics, original arms aren't too bad on price so I might pick up them if I get it, I can't find the original shocks though. Think I might see about picking it up tonight though. How can I tell if it's the 30th anniversary or the original from 84?

Shocks are all over the place on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEAM-ASSOCIA...item3391e02950 I doubt I could tell the difference between the oldies and the re-pop. Someone that really knows rc10s could tell I'm sure, just not me.

Nice steal! Do those batterier still hold a charge? If not, you might want to look at some new ones; http://www.atomikrc.com/collections/...-with-uni-plug

I haven't tried them or the charger yet, finished Cleaning and removing duct tape last night and evaluated what parts it needs. The guy said the batteries only last a minute and then are dead, I was looking at a battery at horizon for 16 bucks by dynamite, but might need a charger too. I'll post more when I get home.

If that charger works, it's a pretty good little charger for nicd and nmhd. Won't balance charge or do lipos though. I like mine pretty well. I have other chargers but still use this one for some things.

Below is the battery at horizon for 17. I'll have to check the batteries after I get a set of crystals for the traxxas tx/rc10 since its missing one unless I swap one from the tornado or volcano. Probably gonna look for another charger though, was looking at one at one of my lbs for 60 with tamyia and deans plugs, battery specific charges and discharge/storage charge. Especially when the mini 8ight comes in this week. Will be getting lipos for that though.

I'm still compiling a list of parts I need but a majority of the front end, front shock bodies and rebuild kit for all 4, and the screw for most of the chassis and also the spur gear. I think the wider arms give it a better stance, but there is too much play in the shocks for them.
As of last night...

What a blast from the past for me. That was the very first buggy I built when I was in my teens. Still sad I sold it all. Treat it right and it's a very solid platform.

If I can fix the servo linkage this week, I can have it running by this weekend. My charger and flysky tx and 2 rx will be here Friday. The old charger works, but the neg spring lever up front is busted and I don't know what the plug from the back does, nor it's charging specifics. So I ordered a thunder ac6 and rx/tx from hobbypartz. That will also allow me to cycle the other 3 batteries to see if I can get some life out of them. Picked up a 42p pinion and spur 22/72 on my way home tonight. Now I just need to find another screw for the spur since its missing one.

You would need to add a Tamiya connector to that battery. A reason why Venom's Universal Connectors make RC so much easier.

Yeah, I got a new onyx nimh 2000mah battery with the tamyia end for the rc10, used that to test the old charger, and waiting on two venom lipos to come in my lhs for the m8. Might also be a good time to upgrade the esc to something that can run a brushed motor on Lipo or nimh for the rc10. I imagine a 2s would work nicely in it.

Yeah, 2S would work very well. A new Traxxas XL5 ESC (LiPO support, waterproof, cheap) will run you about 40 dollars on eBay and lasts forever. I still have my one from 2008 that works great.

I forgot those were Lipo compatible, now I remember wanting to upgrade my old hustlers esc when these ones came out.

Yeah, I was checking them out last night. I'm contemplating getting the combo with the 550 motor. When I tested the charger, I put the new onyx battery to it and discharged it in the rc10, just ran it dead without the spur gear and there was a little chatter in the one in there. I haven't ever torn a motor apart to service them. Although, I am wondering if losi's excelorin motors are rebuildable, the m8 I just got has a velineon 380 in it, but came with a stock included but snapped shaft.

Yeah, but instead of that 550, go with another motor you have laying around first.

They all need work, ones incomplete, one had a broken magnet, 2 need brushes and one of those has excessive play in the shaft.

Ohh, okay. I wouldn't buy the 550 motor; WAY too much power. See if you can find an HPI Firebolt 15 turn. 10 bucks on A Main.

Be careful about physical size of the battery if you get a lipo for it. A lot of the 4 to 5000 size won't fit in the battery compartment on that car. Found out about that when I was looking for a batt for my T. Also, I see a stelth tranny half in the pile of stuff. Does it have a stelth tranny. That'd be good.

10 for a new,one beats,10 for a used one, was looking at some other ones on eBay before yesterday, but I've just kept looking.

I was more panning on the lipos I have coming for my m8, those are smaller than the 6 cell nimhs that I have currently. 1 is 2s and the other is 3s and 2000mah if I remember right, but they should be in tomorrow. And yes, there is a full tranny like that in the car (1.5 trannys is correct too), although I can't get the pin out of the input shaft on either one, thinking bout soaking them in pb blaster overnight. I know there are 2 trannys for this, but what's the difference? This one looks to be more stout in the gearing from what I can see, but that's about it.
