Default USB adapters for esc programming universal?

I'm needing to know if any USB adapter can be used to program my mamba max monster and sidewinder ESCs with my PC. I figured it should work if i had the castle software installed on my computer.

Theoretically yes. But do you want to risk blowing up a $100 ESC? No. Pay the dang $24 and get the CastleLink. It's worth it.
