Default Old Tamiya Mountaineer speed controller

Hi guys,
I'm looking for some help with a old Mountaineer I scored from a friend. One of the resistors for the speed controller as burned out and as a result it's full speed or nothing when driving it. So I was interested in getting rid of that outdated setup rather than fixing it. What would my options be?

Thanks for that RustyUs, that looks like just the thing. Would this be all I need or would I need to change other things to suit it as well? Thanks again

With an ESC being swapped in for the mechanical speed control, you'll won't need the extra servo and receiver battery pack. As far as the radio gear goes, you'll need to make sure your current one is still working. I can only take a guess you should have a 3, or 4 channel Tx/Rx to work the shifting servo.

Here's a pic of the controller, I'm not sure which particular one it is. So the esc should run the steering servo and obviously the forward and reverse but I'll have to see if it'll run the shifting servo and also see if that old controller will work with the new esc.
